Part of the reason I did perspective mode next is so I could get cool clips for an introductory video. I myself will probably use orthographic mode more as well.
Infinite Chess: Official release!

Good to know Vick designed the current setup. If it was made to not be draw-ish, sure did a good job, cause I've never had a game come down to the last few pieces! .. atleast not yet.

Version 1.1.0 has now been released!
This features a toggle perspective mode in the pause menu, for desktop devices!
Also, When you are black in an online game, your view will now be rotated to be from black's perspective!
Next I'm planning on creating an introductory youtube video for Infinite Chess, then I'll make the Guide for the title screen. Then the next major update will likely be the board editor. Though if anyone thinks a certain feature should come next please give your opinion

imo any form of infinite chess should never be played with no increment, so its good that all the options have increment
also 30|20 is the equivalent of something like say 15|10 in normal chess (the larger board requires more thought?) (btw i really like 15|10 in normal chess) and some larger presets could be needed
but then again it would be better to add a custom timing option
also, i would like if there was a feature where you go to board editor, edit the board, then can send an unrated challenge for that (must be unrated to prevent rating abuse)

bug alert:
"invite no longer exists"
so its possible for someone to accept a challenge, then for the other person to delete it?
what sense does that make
atleast say "game aborted" or something

It's possible for you to click accept before your browser receives the signal that the other person has already deleted it. Would that make more sense if it said aborted?

hmm
so the sequence of events is:
you create the game
you delete the game
i accept the game (my browser thinks this happens before the delete)
i get the message
i mean, i guess it could say that (invite no longer exists) but it would be a bit confusing, idk

i am just confused because i have never seen anything like this
e.g. i have played on pychess a chess variant place and individual challenges are shown but nothing like this

It's a lot rarer if the browser is receiving quick refreshes. I've the refresh period set to 1 second right now so it's less likely to overload the server, so this'll happen occasionally.

Actually most people I see create a challenge usually delete it 3 seconds later lol xD. I don't know if it's cause they change their mind or they get self-conscious with the invite sitting there or what... maybe they think nobody will come so why wait?
Occasionally when I'm dev testing I'll be creating & deleting invites.

no its coz they get bored of waiting
but 3 seconds is way too little for that, and besides it gives others no time to accept
also convenience feature- please add some sort of way to always be logged on

Yeah I feel it's a little more than getting bored of waiting cause usually they cancel before I have a chance to accept.
Do you mean a way of staying logged in? The current session time-out time is 5 days, I can increase that if you could use it.

yes and "remember me"
also lol 5 days is a lot but i was kinda forced to go above it, i dont need you to increase it

A remember me button's a good idea. Definitely in the future, for now I may just quick fix and increase session expire time slightly, so I can focus on pushing new features.

also, i would like if there was a feature where you go to board editor, edit the board, then can send an unrated challenge for that (must be unrated to prevent rating abuse)
I am already planning this
EDIT 1/7/24: I've realized this could be used to create boards with explicit imagery and expose other people to them. Unless this is solved I'm not sure this can be a feature anymore..

Looks awesome! I assume the board editor will come with a range of fairy pieces?
Depends. What kind of pieces would you like? When I first finish the editor it will probably not contain additional pieces than the base game. But depending on how complex/simple the moveset is I may be adding several more shortly after.
I was thinking just the Amazon and Archbishop.
What about Chancellor, Camel, Wildebeest?
vick created the setup
anyway, the reason that the new pieces were added is because of the larger board, a single queen cant checkmate and stuff
so the game would be drawish
anyway, idc abt perspective mode
