I propose the idea of CHAOS CHESS.
It's like regular chess, except every time you move a piece a random event may occur. These events are marked with the colors red, yellow, green, and blue. There is an equal chance to get any color. The color event is completely unpredictable and only happens after you move your piece. If red, your piece moves like how you planned it to. If yellow, your piece's move is flipped horizontally. (Moves left become moves right.) If green, the move is flipped vertically. (Moves up become moves down.) Finally, if blue, your piece doesn't move at all. That was the easy part. Now come the more complicated rules:
If your piece's move is flipped and you are now going to move off of an edge, your piece moves like it normally would if it didn't move past the edge. If you were going to capture a piece and ended up going a different direction, the piece does not get captured. This includes pawn captures, and the pawn still moves diagonally despite not capturing a piece. If the space you are moving to after being flipped already has one of your other pieces in it, then you will be forced to take your own piece to move your current piece there. If this piece is a king, then the piece you are moving gets captured instead because the king cannot be captured. If the move will put your king in danger, then treat it like a blue move and just don't move.
Yeah, that was a lot. Chess is pretty complicated. Chaos chess is even more complicated. What are your thoughts on my idea?
