White has an aggressive plan.

Qa4 stops Ba8 due to Qxa7 with white winning a pawn.

Qa4 breaks the symmetry by force as black can not play Qa5.

Qa4 frees the square d1 so white can play R@d1 followed by d4.

White also plans Ba1 + Nf3 + d4.

The problem with whites plan is that the queen is exposed and the second black bishop was not deployed when Qa4 was played.

Now black can advance the central pawn with tempo.

So white tries the same plan with a slight modification.

Wait until black plays Ba8 and then target the pawn on a7.

drop64

Black could be passive and defend the pawn with say b8.

But Nb8 for the second knight is a double drop which is an active move that also deploys the pawn.

So black sacs the pawn for active play and a lead in development while also creating long term weaknesses in whites position.
