I know it's just a single game, but Stockfish did reach depth 17 on every move. If you peruse all the games in my profile, you can count the wins. And I lost some speed games on account of time, but given enough time to put together a strategy 8 moves or longer in maneuvering, Stockfish can't quite see the consequences until it is too late. By the way, nominal depth 14 equates to a 2400 rating according to Hans Berliner, creator of the Hi Tech 64-parallel processor program.

The proof tree was submitted to the ICGA Journal in 2003 or 2004. It was cumbersome to browse, but summarized in my paper "80-square chess." That paper was peer-reviewed by computer science PhDs and it was published.

We both know you're not going to pay me$10,000.

So if you prove you've got$10,000 in the bank, I'll send you 12 old IDE drives with the proof tree on it. And I'll play anyone Capablanca's Chess if I am given the white pieces. In short: There's no way you can convince me I can't win every game as white because the game itself is flawed. I'm no world champion and scoring 6 wins against Stockfish was no easy task, but Imagine what Carlsen can do once he sees the winning strategy.

The main reason Capablanca's Chess is flawed. 3 diagonal pieces in a row all gunning for the vicinity of the weakened i-pawn.

images created with Zied's Board Painter, which is awesome and I like a great deal.

Hi Ed, thanks for all these informations.

May be i'm missing something.

Where did you mention in your article " 80 square-chess " the files you mentioned, or any proof of Capablanca Chess being a "must win game" for white because of the starting position ?

By the way, Capablanca Chess and Naturally Gothic Chess are great games, and i share your opinion that Gothic Chess start position is more balanced. But both games are "almost" exacly the same.

Hope that you will succeed again in promoting Capablanca / gothic Chess.

My paper on 80-square chess was originally quite large. The publishers/editors of the International Computer Games Association Journal reserve the right to "edit prior to publishing" any paper submitted to them. They do this because:

-Sometimes there are typos or nomenclature errors.

-Data formats need to be made more consistent

-Space constraints in their print run sometimes means articles will be curtailed

In my case, with over 24 terabytes of  proof tree data, they agreed to authenticate it themselves, and print summary data only.

https://gothicchess.info/80.pdf is the abridged version

Interesting.

can you share the non abridged version of your article? I think that the non published part is probably the most interesting. Strange the editors edited it like that?!

Hi

Where did you found this post?

It's 7pm23 GMT and the mentioned post seems to be released 7-8 hours ago? Maybe it was released on another thread, so i'm curious to see it.

Thanks

Can you also release for us here, under NDA the original non reviewed 80-square chess article? If you don't want to make it public here, it'll be a pleasure if you share it sending me an email.

Thanks

That post was created by @komstratyx-Spiele who also shared the link. Also, I'm not the author of the 80-square chess paper, Ed Trice is. Surely you have heard me say this several times. He is my chess instructor in his variation. I am primarily a Janus Chess player switching my allegiance to Trice Chess now. Surely someone on here can confirm this.

Didn’t read too much of these posts but would like to chime in the automate is my favorite chess variant. Very time friendly and doesn’t interfere much with life outside of chess. Very fun watching the computer play.
