Hi I really have trouble understanding this. Does this mean that the Hunter can capture potentially 12 pieces in one turn without moving?

The hunter's NORMAL (no capture) moves are king moves. Its captures are all marked squares.

That way of putting it is confusing.

First of all you don't capture squares.
