Oh, I see.

“The chancellor pair” is pretty catchy.

Hi.

captaintugwash

Sup. Can you make a board thingy? I want it to dawn on hitthepin.

SuperSam1

I can't I'm afraid.

captaintugwash

Aw, thanks anyway. Suppose I should go to bed then, it's 1.30am.

hitthepin
See you in the morning.

Had you played 14. C(0,-1) you would now be able to block check with the chancellor. But if you do that, then QxC+, KxQ, HxB+ and after king moves hawk picks up the other chancellor. That would've been fun.

captaintugwash

The queen is ludicrously powerful and giving her up for two chancellors could even have been a blunder.

Sorry I tried to edit a typo in a non-move post and accidentally quoted it instead, then I tried to delete it and now it looks messy!

I agree a queen is powerful on the infinite board, but I don't think I agree that she is worth two chancellors. (not sure if captaintugwash's opinion is in reference to this position only). But obviously I'm not going to discuss specific positions of this game because it's in progress. Later I might list my opinion on piece values on a separate thread.

Also, very sorry but I'll be travelling for most of today. I probably will not be able to post any more board updates, at least until late today. Thanks for your patience.meh.png

No problem.

In my opinion, two chancellors are worth more than a queen. For example, if they both attack a pawn, a lone queen can’t defend it. If the queen attacks a lone pawn, it only takes one chancellor to defend it, while the other can make threats separately.
