As you know the normal rules for draw by three-fold repetition apply. Just mentioning - not saying anyone should or shouldn't try for that sequence.

Avoiding the draw seems more like a me problem than a you problem. I'll at least have more time to try to find an alternative line. Play whatever you like, don't feel like you need to justify threefold.

Naviary

The goal though is to find out who is the stronger player. If we draw than we have to do a whole other match.

Well, the goal is to be champion. But you're right, if I draw as black then we'll need to play again at some time in the reasonably near future, even if someone else challenges for the championship first.

I did have a move if you tried repeating, that move is probably the same as what I play here but I need to take a longer look. At a glance it seems I have no other options.

captaintugwash

I don't see what else I can do, there's nothing to be done by checking you so this is forced, I won't waste more time.

Trade your queen for bishop and chancellor, I dare you. I doubt it's a good trade, worse than bishop and rook for queen in regular chess, but you could try to prove me wrong!

captaintugwash

Assuming you play 29. CxC, you can premove 29... BxC

Naviary

29. CxC(-5,0)...

(tugwash's premove, BxC takes into effect)

I've thought about that before on several different lines, I just can't bring myself to hand over my queen for a chancellor and a bishop. Even though I may be considered 3-or-so points in the lead, it'd make me nervous if you had the only queen left on the board.

I would do it if I were getting a chancellor and a rook.

captaintugwash

shush ry,you're making me look at things like random attacks on my queen, as though nav can hit her with a tempo. Imagine if he could.

Naviary

30. Q(-14,12)...

If there were, I would definitely use it to reach a more offensive position.

Naviary

I got my mission call! I leave in 6 1/2 weeks on May 29th. We should probably not delay moving so we can get in as many moves in as possible so at that point, you tugwash, can have a sufficient knowledge to decide who is better. Obviously I can't hold the crown while I'm gone for 2 years, as I cannot accept challenges, it will probably go to you tugwash.

captaintugwash

Congratulations! Good luck over the next two years!

Ok then, let's both agree to try to move once every 24 hours. I can't promise I'll stick to that, especially over weekends, but I will try. Feel free to post daily bumps.

I'm just about to go out, I think I know what I want to play but I need a bigger analysis board! I'll be back in a few hours.

vickalan

Congratulations Naviary! This will be a rewarding experience for you. I'll leave message at your mission call page too.

Unfortunately, I'm doing (normal) travel starting tomorrow, so there may be delays in board updates. I hope it does not cause long delays.

Board update for now:
