Starting at 27 play went like this:
27.HxB!?...NxH
28.BxP...
29.BxN... HxB
30.RxG...
31.... HxP

Black loses B,P,N,G (3 1 3 3 = 10 points)
White loses H,B,P (7,3,1 = 11 points)

This is based on theory that hawks are worth 7 which is what I believe. So I think 27.HxB was both interesting and bold, but probably helped Black to get slightly better.

You can't keep expecting to get away with it. You really need to do coordinates better! It's hard to understand how you make the mistake when it's near the corner. If you don't start triple checking, it's a matter of time before you hang your chancellor, and that would be a disappointing way to lose a really good game.

I said that without taking in your move. Ok you won't hang your chancellor if vick trades them off! But you get my point. You're lucky you only dumped a pawn.

Sorry for delay. I did a little travelling on the weekend, but will be home late today. Just had my morning coffee.

I can hold the hawk vs knight ending, i'm nearly positive

Not sure about it. I was also considering Cx(5,3)+ which puts me ahead another pawn, but leaves me open to annoying checks by the Chancellor. Of course Black can also produce annoying checks, but I can't see if that end-game is any better for me.meh.png

Now you've captured the chancellor, I would be inclined to agree with your assessment. The chancellor is capable of drawing alone, unlike the rook. I would have thought you have an edge here, but not much of one. It will be interesting to see how much better the hawk is than the knight in a king pawn endgame, if it can force the win.

I think I have a win here, but if Ry can draw, it will feel like a defeat.meh.png

I think this game will go past 100 moves, unless you resign earlier but I don't see that you would do that.

There should be nothing difficult about counting between the 5th and 7th files. If you want to play that ending you can resign, and then we can play (unrated) from what you now prefer to play.

I'm also not sure one is better than the other. Either way it will take your knight 3 moves to capture two pawns (assuming my pawns don't evade). The move you played gave you a passed pawn.

Nx(7,6) does not give you a passed pawn (but your knight is closer to my hawk and advancing pawn).

I think either way the concern to me is about the same.meh.png

Late for me now. I'll be back tomorrow.😐
