Can you say: Start vacation in three days?
Correspondence Chess Rules for Variant-Chess

What happens if a person goes on vacation on move 20?
Do they have to tell the mod about that before the game?

Sorry for late reply. I'm OK with announcing a vacation anytime. The main point is letting your opponent know that you haven't disappeared. But once announced, your vacation is used - whether you used the time or not.
(fyi: the bulldog federation officially decides this, but I'm pretty sure they're ok with respecting this discussion, as long as nobody complains).

You can't control exactly when your opponent plays, so best practice is to keep playing until you're ready to go on vacation (or something comes up). When you need extra time, just say you're taking vacation time. You will get your normal 3-days, plus 4 extra vacation days for 1-week total.
If you're in the hospital with a broken arm, I hope someone brings your cell phone to you, and your fingers can type. Otherwise you might lose the chess game (unless your opponent has mercy on you).

Only games where both players have made at least 1 move is counted towards ratings, if that is what you are asking?

I am totally against the second point!
You block the development of AI for new chess variants and violate the rights of individuality and ideals of freedom!
The correct wording is such:
"The player must be officially notified that he is playing vs a computer program (AI)".
Some chess sites use this practice.
This allows us to demonstrate the tremendous superiority of alive chess variants over dead classical (FIDE) chess.

Is it an idea to put some finalized version of the rules for vacation time in the OP?
Hi evert823, Thanks for the idea. I put all agreed rules in the original post.
For vacation time, there has been a few comments about changing the rule, but it was never changed because there was never wide-consensus. For now, if anyone wants to play a game with more vacation, please just request it for your individual game. (We can eventually see if there is more discussion/consensus here).

Hi Ivan, these rules are only for human vs. human play. We are not blocking software development, but players cannot use software to make chess moves, unless their opponent is informed.
fyi: I am almost 100% sure that there are no chess-engines for bulldog with witch, and infinite chess. Even if somone tried, I think the best players here can win against rudimentray software programs. So everyone here can continue playing knowing it is only human vs. human.

Salute vickalan!
What do you think about AlphaZero? And where is the difference between human and computer in our times? There is only the difference between individuals, that is, players!
Welcome to Waterloo 2019!

I still have a question. I myself posted a wrong diagram, and only many moves later my opponent notifies this to me. What is the valid position? The position according to the posted moves or the position according to the diagram?
I am talking about an unrated game, but this can also happen in a rated game.

According to #13:
"...A valid move notation has priority over a diagram..."
I did once post a diagram which was what I intended, but what I wrote didn't match. Tomato noticed, and I fixed the diagram to match. Not good for me - I ended up losing.
Also, keep in mind that if a diagram has an error, and nobody notices, it can lead to a game which follows with senseless or illegal moves. If illegal moves are discovered, the game should be "rewound" to the last legal position, and played from there.
If your game became tainted with an incorrect diagram, I hope it was able to be fixed - or at least wasn't rated.

Please note that rules concerning vacation and time-warnings have been revised. The following has been added to the original post:
<Addendum - effective for all games starting August 7, 2019 and later>
15 (revised). Vacation time: Each player may once per 40 moves take vacation time. Vacation allows a player 14 extra days to play a move (added to the 3-day move limit, for a total of 17 days for a move). The player must announce it before using the extra time. Every 40 moves, vacation time is "refreshed". Vacation days cannot be banked.
18. Time control limit (addendum to #14). A maximum of three time-warnings are allowed per player every 40 moves. The fourth time-warning is a loss. Every 40 moves the limit is refreshed.
Immediately effective with a clean slate, probably. There was no consent before, so perhaps people thought it was perfectly acceptable time management to wait for warning before deciding what to do. That's fair enough if there's no rule in place that prevents this use of time.
