Correspondence Shatranj

Actually, I was born and raised in Hawaii. I guess that's why I've taken a liking to shatranj and playing by correspondence: we're soooo slow. :)

ok, born in Scotland, grew up in Rhodesia, lived in Zimbabwe. People say Howzit all the time in Southern Africa.
I made a game, perhaps you might find it interesting. I played about 2 dozen games with a chess grandmaster when I was fine tuning the game rules. It plays very well, chaos on the side boards, harmony on the game board.
Only problem is that you have to make a board and set, examples on the website to give you some ideas, not too much effort.
cheers

Oh, I didn't know that. And here we thought we were the only ones to say howzit.
I'll check out the game. Thanks!

Howzit Guys,
Allow me to update my invitation to a game (or games) of correspondence shatranj.
I just received my copy of H.J.R. Murray's monumental work on chess, "A History of Chess: The Original 1913 Edition". What a treasure. If you are a historian or antiquarian, you will undoubtedly find this work (oh, how I hate to say it in the modern vernacular), amazing.
The history reaches far back and shatranj is given a decent treatment. The entire work is about 900 pages long and modern chess is not touched upon until about page 750 or so.
So, for anyone out there who might be interested in playing the forerunner of our beloved game - just to see things in a different light - give me a ring. Keep in mind that while it might be a correspondence game, there is no "book" that anyone can refer to. It's all new. Or should I say, "What's old is new"?
Aloha!

Hi man
I could point you towards this guy, he is seriously into all the old stuff.
He runs a site, sells old sets, variants etc
He will probably play you.
Other than that, I think you might find it difficult here finding an opponent.
Howzit Guys,
I'm looking for someone who might be interested in playing correspondence shatranj. One move a day by email. If you're interested, send me a PM.
Aloha!
