So I was bored and I came up with this idea for a chess variant. I call it trap chess.
It's pretty much like normal chess but with a twist. Before the setup each player will pick any 3 squares between the third and sixth rank and write them down on a separate piece of paper. The squares they have chosen are called trap squares. You are not supposed to tell your opponent which squares you have put them on. If your opponent put a piece on the square you have chosen the piece dies and the square is revealed. You put down a mark on that square revealing that square is a trap square and whatever piece lands on that square dies even if it's your own piece. However if your opponent hasn't landed on your trap square then you can place a piece on your trap square without dying.
During the actual game you will have the ability to place 2 trap squares in any square that is not occupied by a piece. A trap square must be at least 2 squares away from the king the turn you place one. To place a trap square you must give up one of your own pieces or pawns. You are not supposed to tell where you have put your trap square. To win the game you either must checkmate the king or the opponent king moves to a trap square.
When your opponent lands on a trap square you must show your opponent that you have written it down. It's recommended to play with 5 cards or pieces of paper so that when you reveal your square you don't expose your other squares to the opponent. It is also recommended to write down each turn that is played so you can make sure that your opponent doesn't cheat.
Anyways some feedback would be nice.
