Does saving games work?

HorribleTomato

Eswaff, here is EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Did you put the games in the "games" folder?

SETUP:

Running the jar file the first time by double-clicking it will automatically create the required directories and force quit. You will then need to drag the *uncompressed* “Photos” folder (downloaded from google drive) containing all the required png’s into this location: “C:\chess folder\Infinite Chess\”. The program should have already created the folders “Games” and “Screen Captures”. It should work now!

If after this and the app is still crashing on startup - run the jar file using a command prompt (or terminal window) by typing this: “java -jar”, followed by a *space*, then drag the jar file into the command window, and hit enter! This will print any console messages / errors to the command window. After it’s done running (or in this case, crashing), take a picture of the results and send it to me so I can debug the problem!

If you find any bugs, or want to request features message me!

All Controls:

There are currently 10 available game slots. Keys 1-9 and 0 will load these respective games. Game on startup is slot 1.

To save a game, push the Escape key on the top-left of your keyboard. IMPORTANT you don’t forget to push this before switching games because it does not automatically save!

To delete a game, hold the respective game slot number.

To copy and paste a game, push Y and U.

Use W and S to zoom in/out. To vastly increase the zoom speed, also hold left-shift.
Use the arrow keys to pan.

To move a piece, click it, then click the destination square.

To add a piece, click R to toggle between Add-White, Add-Black, and disabled modes. Hotkeys Q and E to cycle left / right through all available pieces. Ghost piece will be visible before placement!
There are 14 different colors available, to cycle dye color push T and G.

Right-click to paint a square. Right-click it again to de-paint it.
There are 6 palettes. Push Z for orange highlight boxes. Push X for rainbow auras. Push C for black triangles on corners. Push V for spikes. Push B for black boxes. N currently doesn’t render anything. Palettes are saved to the game file. Push O to delete, and P to delete just the Z and B palettes.

To toggle arrows and circles and line paths showing you where existing pieces are, push Tab.

To enter coords to teleport to, push Enter, proceed to enter x coord, push Enter, enter y coord, push Enter.

To cycle/pan to the next existing piece push bracket ] to shuffle right and [ to shuffle left.

To take a screenshot, click the rounded gray box in the top-right corner.

To toggle Fullscreen, hit F.

To toggle rendering of the board and coordinates, hit ` or ~ next to the escape key.

To toggle piece deletion when placing pieces atop one-another, push M.

Push , to print to the console total point strengths of each team! Currently the only pieces that have point worths are pieces included in this game.

Push . to take a 20% chance to delete any existent obstacles (solid-black zombies in group white). And also currently places a lot of void squares randomly :D !

To quit, hit Alt > F4 on Windows machines (Alt > escape will also just change focus), Command > Q to quit on macs.

yes

eswaff

oh, okay wasn't putting games in game folder

Naviary
I am half way done rewriting line paths to take into account barrier fields. Horizontal lines are accurate, just need the diagonal lines now.
eswaff

is there a way to change the x value to letters for modding other chess games?

Naviary

Not currently, but that is a good idea. Like I could divide the number by 26 to get the number represented in letter format. I'll pop it into the feature ideas section.

Hey Nav, mind if I run a miniature 3 player sandbox w/ money bag kings? We can showcase it to see how the idea works.
Naviary

3 Player, why not just us 2?

HorribleTomato
Ok, but I want to try 2 players ganging up on 1 stronger player.
HorusTheThird

I could join. I'm not sure how well it will work. We should probably should move the discussion to this thread. You're swamping the game page.

HorribleTomato

He already made the thread. SOOOOO

But anyways that would be pretty cool for you to join us.

eswaff

is there a way to undo?
