Sure, aidanB1! Do you want to do musketeer chess as well, or try one in bulldog chess? Whatever you'd like. Also, did you say that you'd try that variant where a pawn can promote to a guard when it moves three times? I was under the impression that you had, but you never really showed up... it was on the last page back on this thread.
Looking for Opponents/Games?

Ok aidanB1. Link for Guard Bulldog chess thread is here. Do you also want to start a game with cougar, jaguar, and/or panther? Would you like to do bulldog chess or musketeer chess with them?

Anyone want to try some new pieces? (Actually they might have been invented before but not to my knowledge). Here I'm just going to give them basically random names that are related, because they're all based on the same concept. You'll need to tell me if they have already been used .
Jaguar
Can always move as a rook. When it's on a black square, it can also move as a knight, and when it's on a white square it can also move as a bishop.
Leopard
Can always move as a bishop. When it's on a black square, it can also move as a knight, and when it's on a white square it can also move as a rook.
Panther
Can always move as a knight. When it's on a black square, it can also move as a rook, and when it's on a white square it can also move as a bishop.
If anyone's willing to give one or two of them a shot, we could use them in musketeer chess, bulldog chess, or just add an extra column to the side of the board like this variant.
So, anyone want to try?
Hi, i like the Panther rules
No, there should be 2 panthers, 1 dark squared one and 1 light squared one. Balances the game.

Cat and mouse chess...
Mouse... scurries like a rook, doesn't capture but "scares" enemy pieces next to it, rendering them impotent in terms of attacking power.
So... a piece that has an enemy mouse next to it cannot capture and cannot deliver check. It must move to a square away from the mouse first.
This would mean a king cannot capture a mouse, nor a pawn.
Cat - captures like a king, moves like a knight, not scared of (immune to) the mouse.

Yeah, I thought about that. I mentioned it on the thread I set up for me vs musketeerchess2017.

Cat and mouse chess...
That looks really good! If no one else wants to I'll play it with you.

Sure, if someone creates the pieces!
Also, thinking about the cat's movement... I think instead the cat still captures like a king, but rather than moving like a knight when not capturing, it jumps two. It can only move like a king when capturing, and only jumps when not capturing.
A mouse is not scared of the enemy mouse, either. They can be next to each other with no effect.
edit - Also yeah, the mouse can capture the enemy mouse if it's next to it, ie captures like a king but can only capture the mouse.

Sure why don't we do musketeer chess with cougar!

Alright, Aidan B1, sounds good! I'll set up a thread (link here). You can play white. See you there!

Oh yeah... I thought I recognized the scare function. But does the zombie have a cat that is not scared of it? I think that makes it different enough to be its own piece.

By the way, I'm playing a game against @Junebug444. I already have a second-tier win over @hitthepin (who had won a game previously), and so the winner of this game will challenge @Martin0 for the Bulldog crown if possible! Game is here.

Yeah cat and zombie doesn't quite work.
So long as the mouse moves differently, it's a different piece. Although it is annoying that my idea isn't original.

Just to be clear: does the cat move like this (I'm using a leopard since it is a type of cat, and the dots are where it can capture not move, and the arrows where it can jump and not capture):
Or like this:
In your other post it just said that it could jump two, so just wanted to be clear...

Captaintugwash, we could use this musketeer chess board painter to play a game with cat and mouse. There are tons of icons that we can use. How were you thinking of incorporating them into the game? Musketeer chess? Or more like bulldog chess? I personally don't care how, the pieces just look so exciting to use !
Yeah I am! This is so much fun
