Great! We have four more players. We now have two games:

1. Junebug444, AidanB1, Thegreatauk, and HorusTheThird

2. Fly-Eagles-Fly, Waredude, SuperSam1, and I think that HorribleTomato also agreed

Someone can start threads now. Unless for some reason someone wanted to switch which game they were playing in...

Waredude
We have Four! I want to be on HT's team!
Waredude
List of extra pieces(the ones we can choose to put "behind" other pieces like in musketeer chess)

Dwarf, Joker, Crippled Amazon, and and Zombie.

This sound good?
Fly-Eagles-Fly

I personally think we should just stick to witch...

Waredude
I am fine with either.

Before starting the games, I think it is important to decide if you want to use the same rules as last time.

Rules last time:

Red and Yellow is a team against blue and green (players in front of each other are in teams).

You cannot capture your teammate's pieces.
There is no en passant.
Pawns promote on your 13th rank
Checkmate only happens when a player's turn is reached allowing a player's teammate to intervene.
The first team to checkmate an enemy player wins!

One additional rule I suggest is to not discuss strategies or tell your partner what to do. In regular 4 player chess communication within a team is very important to be successful, but since this is played on the forums where everyone can see all comments, I think it is best to play without discussing strategies. The players need to figure out what their partner is intending to do when they see their partners move.

Time control is the usual 3 days and then a warning when the player has 24 hours to make a move. However, instead of loosing the game, a new player could take over, so the game can keep going. Not sure how long time should be considered ok to wait until a new player appears, but I like the idea to keep the game going and keep all players to only control one army.

Fly-Eagles-Fly

Players can discuss strategy through messaging, though, correct? Other than that I think those are the best rules.

HorusTheThird

We can message each other easily using the build in chess.com messaging.

btw, I just won against josephyossi in the tournament game.

If we want to allow strategy discussion that is true @Fly-Eagles-Fly. Depends what you consider fun. Some players enjoy trying to figure out what their teammate wants to do by just looking at their moves and think for themselves. Others like to communicate a lot and plan together.

And personally, I think cooperating with communication is mostly interesting when both players are about the same strength, so it is not too dependent of the highest rated player.

Waredude
So just the witch? And can me and ht be on a team?
Fly-Eagles-Fly

I think that the players should message each other a little bit, like at really crucial moments where a single move could ruin it. Or we could make it illegal. As long as we all know and follow the rules.

I'm fine either way. I think the players for each game should vote on it.

Waredude
I like the idea of no pming. It is good to figure things out for yourself! That is how i learn most thing!
Waredude
Sametimepost.
I think we should go with fefs idea! Only at critical moments!

If you know how tactical 4 player chess is, then you should know that it is possible to lose the game because of a blunder on the first move. Basically you would need to communicate every move.

Fly-Eagles-Fly

Ok, then we should just go with no communication.

Martin0

Not sure how you would make rules for only crucial moments.

Waredude
Ok. No chat it is.
Waredude
Partner says"warning; don't screw up my plan!"
Martin0

I think it is best to vote if communication should be allowed. And only the players playing need to vote (so not me).
