Would anybody want to try a game of Clash of Mythic Titans?

HorusTheThird and Friedmelon,
Battlechess made the rules for COMT (clash of mythic titans) about a year ago, but I'm not sure if every rule for every piece was finished.
Maybe he will visit this thread and give some advice. If you want to play a large game which is simpler than COMT, but still on a large board, then there is also Waterloo (like here).

IvanKosintsev made the rules and graphics. I play it with Ivan's rules, but I use different graphics (for example instead of Marshall, I use Chancellor graphic).

If you two play each other in Waterloo, I can help moderate the game. The winner from your game can challenge the winner between Ivan and me. Just an idea, let me know if you'd like to do it.happy.png

I chose COMT because of the complexity. I still want to try.

OK, awesome! that will be the biggest game I've ever seen played (at least the most pieces in a game). I sent a PM to BattlechessGN18 to let him know his game might be played. I haven't seen him on this forum for a while. I wonder if he'll come back to watch.happy.png

infinte chess board?

vickalan

Yes, "chess on an infinite plane" obviously has a bigger board - players can move pieces as far as they want. But I think Clash of the Mythic Titans is probably more complicated - it has about 11 non-standard pieces, some which are fairly powerful. Infinite chess only has 3 non-standard pieces (guard, hawk, and chancellor).

I also saw this big game somewhere but forgot what it is. I only saved the image but not any other info.

Either way, big games and games with lots of pieces can be fun if they are designed well. If you do start a game I'll probably watch some of it!happy.png

Important message received by tournament director:

Evert823 has challenged JunyJunebug to a game of bulldog.

Evert is the highest scoring contender, and has earned the rights to play against JunyJunbug for the crown.

JunyJunebug is the defender, and can choose the game, and will play as White. Games may be bulldog, bulldog legacy, bulldog with witch, or bulldog with angel.
(see this thread for brief description of challenge, and board starting positions).

If Juny accepts, the game is to begin on or about September 27.

If Juny declines, the crown is forfeited.

Spectators await JunyJunebug's decision!happy.png

Anyone want to try my variant Event Chess with me? I have played the variant a lot otb, but never in a forum. Would be interesting to try it out.

Event chess sounds interesting, although as a habit I've usually not had an interest in chess with random events (it changes chess from a game of perfect information to a game with chance).

But it does sound interesting.happy.png

One question I have is when playing by correspondence, how do you select events randomly? Does one player roll dice and the other must trust the result without seeing it?

Or is there a scheme to choose the events, where both players can confirm the event was selected randomly?

Martin0

It is a matter of trust. I will choose a random event on my computer. I will also explain the rules of the event without anyone else having access to the rules or able to confirm them. In general it is best played if I am the judge for 2 players, but I can play if my opponent trust that I will not cheat.

When playing otb we also have a rule that if we get an event that we played very recently we re roll the dice to get another event. It is a very casual variant.

Martin0

Some events will have some hidden information like choosing a piece or square and keep the chosen square hidden for the opponent. That is not perfect information either. If such a variant is chosen and I am playing, then I need help from some member that both players can send a message to and that is able to confirm that the chosen piece or square is correct when it is revealed.

One example is the event "Princess". Both players choose one of their pawns to become a princess, but keeps it a secret which pawn it is. Whenever their queen is captured, their princess is revealed and turns into a queen. If a princess promotes before getting captured, the piece is no longer considered to be a princess. If a player gets in check when the princess turns into a queen it directly becomes that players turn (so he will have a chance to get out of check).

Does anyone want to play Waterloo?

@Martin0 I could probably keep track of the secret material for you.

Martin0

@JuneJunebug, if you are talking about our game, then I believe you have some options what bulldog variant you want. bulldog, bulldog legacy, bulldog with witch, or bulldog with angel.

@HorusTheThird, thanks, I'm still looking for an opponent if anyone want to try my event chess variant.

I'll play. Have you read the rules at IvanKosintsev's website? (link here):

http://chess-checkers-go.blogspot.com/2016/12/waterloo-5th-edition.html

Also, I prefer a different graphic than what Ivan uses.

So Ivan's rules, Ivan's piece names, but graphics as in (this game).

Is this ok?

If HorusTheThird doesn't play then I'll play.

Will you play this and the game against Juny at the same time?

Also, do we set up independent chess boards at home, or post a chess diagram in a topic thread?

I believe all positions appear the same as normal chess, so a normal chess diagram can work, right?
