The spiky one is called a guard, it move and captures like a king but is not affected by check. If you check out a game there are descriptions for each new piece.

Sound's interesting, now I have to look through the forum's for a game with a bulldog as I have forgotten the rules for it.

The bulldog is a pawn but pieces of its own army can pass over it. It does not promote.

Bulldog idea:
Quite simple: Same rules, transparency as normal, but when bulldog+witch's effects combine, the bulldog becomes SOLID, like a normal piece. Also, the highest rank a bulldog can promote to is a rook/witch, not the ability to teleport.
