https://www.xiangqi.com/ is great. There is also https://www.pychess.org/ also in constant development.

Please try https://www.xiangqi.com - we are a new site, and we release new software every Friday. We are still in Beta test, so arrange to meet a friend there. The site is most popular in the mornings (US) and evenings (China). You can meet our team on Saturdays 9-11am ET (9-11pm China).

Here is a nice YouTube video about xiangqi that we created.

I wish chess.com added Shogi, Xianqi, Janggi, Sittuyin, Makruk and any other chess variant. Chess.com already has Duck chess, Horde, Chaturaji, etc. Why not these other variants too?

Not a good idea.

Chess.com has a lousy user interface.

I second that. Xiangqi should have a section under chess variants, like chess960 has.

Chinese Chess, Xiangqi, is not a chess variant.

Chess variants are descendants of FIDE Chess.

Chinese Chess is a sibling of Western Chess. Descended directly from Chaturanga. And it is closer to Chaturanga than Western Chess.

You can say that Western FIDE Chess is the variant. That would be more correct. It has more mutations from its parent than Chinese Chess.
