If you win, I will tell you to stand on the podium (if that is OK with you).
Awesome. @PixelByPixel will be the crown-bearer, and deliver the crown to the winner of SuperSam1 vs vickalan championship game.

Hello, I would be interested in a game of this. Please reply in this thread so I get a notification if there's a game for me, thank you.
I would play, but I'm already in too many games, and going to start another game soon (4-player bulldog). For good or bad, some games last a long time so it might be a while before I finish 1 or 2 games. But if anyone else will play, I'll be happy to moderate.
Thanks hitthepin. Before we agree to play, I should point out I have a week's holiday around the end of March, exact dates to be confirmed. I suggest a time control of 1 day per move, with 21 days in the bank to cover holidays an emergencies. I saw a previous game auto-resinged after 21 days after a no-show so this seems a fair precedent. Is that ok to you? If so I'm ready when you are, I'm logging in daily to check my notifications.
Yes, that's awesome! I'll be happy to moderate. I also like the new time control method (1 day per move + bank of 21 days for "breaks").
One other detail: I can probably only update the board position once per day (usually). If a player is waiting to see the board, then that doesn't count as "used time".
I'm a little busy now, but will start a thread for this game later today.
<<<“21 days in the bank” means that after a day without a move passes, the days in the “bank” start being used, correct?>>>
Yes, exactly. It just provides us both with an agreed amount of time so life doesn't get in the way. It would still be polite for either of us to say if we're away for a period of time, but it wouldn't be necessary.
Here's my assumed default values for pieces...
pawn = 1
queen = 10 (maybe more)
chancellor = 9
rook = 5.5
hawk = 5
bishop = 3.5
knight = 3
guard = 3, increasing to 4 when there's no chancellors, queens and rooks, and 5 in a pawn endgame
hawk's pawns = 0.5, increasing to 1 as they advance to the king's rank
I'd like to revisit this post after my game to see if I still agree.
Those piece values look pretty good to me. But I've seen some people estimate the hawk's value to be a little higher. The hawk attacks 16 squares, which is twice as many as a knight (8). So the hawk may be worth twice the knight, or around 6 points (I've even seen 7 estimated). But the back formations are so far away, they often don't come into play until at least the mid-game or later. (this move diagram is from Musketeer Chess, but shows the same hawk's moves):
The game between @hitthepin and @captaintugwash is (here). I usually give White to the player who accepts an invitation, and Black to the player who asks for the game first, so hitthepin gets white in this game. Good luck to both!
