I see that you have just one rated 960 game here, so how did it go? FYI, others have talked on this subject recently in other forums.

I beat Grandmaster9x, resigned in the early middle.

In all respect, I repeat: You have just one rated Chess 960 game shown in your profile here on chess.com, and it shows your opponent rated below 1100 (I forget exactly), and you won that one.  I have heard what many others have said about Chess 960 in other forums... so I am just interested in what you think of Chess 960.

No openingtraps ;-)

This may sound stupid but how do you play?

I haven't played but I have observed.  In the initial setup the pawns are the same but the bank rank pieces are assigned randomly.  There are 960 ways to arrange them - hence the name.

Your question : "what do you think of chess960" ; my answer : no good, let us stop with all sorts of fairy chess, the normal version is already difficult and gives enough variations.

Actually, Grandmaster9x was a Unrated. So he loss 146 when he played me. That's why he is 1054.

Fisher Random (Another way to say Chess960) is a Great way to avoid opening traps, but the opening is all that is changed. Overall, It's fun.

Question, where can I find the castle rules on 960?

Since the castling position (White: Kg1, Rf1 or queen-side Kc1,Rd1) is exactly the same as in standard chess, and the other rules like not castling when King in check are the same... well, that is all that we mortals should need to know.  In standard chess, they give the rule for castling, king-side for instance as King moves 2 squares to the right, Rook moves 2 to the left, because I think they want an elegant way of putting it.  But most of us idiots (myself included) just need to know the castling position.

@JJZ03: Well, since you won that one and had fun overall, maybe you put your right foot forward, as they say. Some find it frustating from the word go, but that is because the opening is more challenging than standard and to get a good start one usually needs to pay attention to the principles of opening play.

I recently resigned a 960 game after only 13 moves because I was half awake and missed seeing a potential pawn fork to my knight and bishop. So I moved a pawn and got myself into that bad position with some other challenges thrown in, but if I had simply developed my bishop according to opening principle, I would have instead been in a very good position... even if half-awake!  That's what careful application of opening principles does for you.
