Why won't titled or strong players join clubs?

some people are on this site to play the game not talk to other people or be a part of the community.

well, I notice higher-rated players have avatars of themselves at the chessboard so I started a club for people at their chessboards: https://www.chess.com/club/the-woody-pushers

When I (actually trash at chess) joined some club one of their admins was begging me the whole day to promote their club in chats, i imagine what would be if I were a titled player

I don't even understand what the clubs are for and why some people promote their clubs so feverishly? What is there to gain for anybody?

You may fight verbally in chats of clubs with the same people every day, you cant even block each other

I like how you can build a community of people together in clubs but a lot of people (like this guy) just want to have power over lots of people or strong players in this guys case
we are a lazy club, our forums are dead, but the chess is excellent, we look out for cheats and smurfs and try to keep them out of the club tournaments and match games etc. it has its advantages.

ohh, .... thats a very good question.
what would you answert if you invert the question?

When it comes to any game, if you're really good at it, and people approach you, in the game or related to that game, you are just going to automatically question what your intentions are outright and not trust you. You even outright making it about elitism and being a "lowly" player. You are exactly the type of people they want to avoid in a "club" if they ever joined one.
It seems like they think they're too good to associate with us lowly players. Are they elitist? I have a dog lovers club. Do they dislike dogs?
