@Mrmerbs57, some members are out of place pawns taking up too much room.  Just look at @One-a4, for example.

Life of a Moderator, I don't think many users will be too over enthusiastic on the write up, GOT TO BAN AT LEAST TWO A DAY, AND MUTE FIVE OR GET A PAY CUT!!? could have used more suttle way of putting things, make us users sound like out of place pawns taking up too much room? QUESTION IS WHAT IF THE MODERATOR LOOKS AND LOOKS AND CANNOT FIND HIS 2 PER DAY TO BAN QUOTAS!!! I would rather not think about that one?

Before you get too outraged, re-read the footnote at the end of the very first post in this thread.

I am an aspiring moderator and would like to be one when I grow up.

Some moderators on here work on basis of favourtism and bias. For example, if you make comments that are not in the interest of their business or in the interest of their friends on here they may delete your comments or block you but they give complete freedom to their friends to say whatever they wish in order to flatter them. Admin corruption seems to be everywhere nowadays. I usuallu use the platform of facebook for expressing my chess opinions and making comments and product reviews and I feel quite comfortable there as demoracy rules.

Completely false statement.

I am never too outraged and though you have tried to be light hearted about a Moderators duties and meant this to come over in a light and humorous way someone having there account stopped is not a nice thing, and there have been some people who have had there accounts restricted under dubious circumstances it is those individuals I feel for!

Nobody is muted or banned for frivolous reasons.  Chess.com wants as many members as possible!  Even free members contribute by seeing ads and by contributing to the community to make it more attractive for others.  So the financial incentive would be to ban nobody unless they are actively causing trouble.

However, sometimes people who actively cause trouble do not do so in a particularly public way, or it's caught before most people see it.  For example, there have been instances of people creating a second account to cause trouble, thinking it would let them violate the rules without getting their main account in trouble.  In severe enough circumstances, the main account will get banned too when that happens.

There are a lot of good reasons for people to get banned that you might not have been aware of.  Usually these reasons are not made public, but sometimes it's not hard to figure it out.

More often than not, those "friends" are not even separate individuals.

Trolls, spammers (mods, staff) play both sides to get topics locked, members muted and banned.

This is the easiest way to get our mutes and bans in: create an account, troll with it, and then mute or ban it.

good point indeed, I think maybe in some cases there are grounds to question, however I would not wish to accuse moderators of favouritism however my Brother was on this site a lower rated player than me his best Ecf being 102 he had his account stopped, I have been asked NOT to mention his user name, my highest Ecf Rating was 148 and he gave me the games to look over, chess.com only evidence of the accusations of assistance was 4 accusations from poor losers, having played through these games I saw NO evidence of assistance as both sides made such poor positional moves I could have won both as black and as white!!?. I think there are cases clearly were some users due to accusations by poor losers have had there accounts stopped you only have to look at these games to question why some people have there accounts blocked when chess play is so poor!?. I think personally chess.com ratings when you start between 800 and 1200 at least 75% of these are on a learning curb so play is going to be full of holes so any complaints should be investigated on playing abilities and analysis not purely on how many complaints from sore losers!?

Discussions of cheating-related topics should be had in the Cheating Forum, however, I can confirm that nobody is banned merely because chess.com has received several complaints about them.  People make false accusations all the time, and it wastes the time of the detection team chasing nonsense when they could be spending that time investigating the real cheaters.

Chess.com only bans people for cheating if they are confident that the proof is strong enough that it would stand up in court if someone filed a lawsuit.

If you want to discuss the situation with your brother, you could join the Cheating Forum.  It would be OK to name his account in there.

I suppose you have to find a non-mod account for all of us, though, don't you?  You had the @macer75/@taurusmale67 thing going for a while.

Avatar of Reepicheep14

What I want to know is which mod I am?

@Postafi is probably @erik in disguise trolling everyone.

How is it that "One-a4" knows about Erik & Shaun within 28 days?  Who was he last month?   Even Staff wants to know.surprise.png                                                                                                                                   null

Look kid.......its obvious you're young.....NOBODY asks to be a moderator in their first 30 days except kids. I laughed in my previous posts for the benefit of mods & Staff. I'm 62. I've seen a little more than you in my 6 yrs here. I know Shaun. He's muted me twice and I STILL respect him. Now be a good boy and block me because more than one person thinks you've been here with another account before. frustrated.png Its not an accusation.......its a suspicion based on your performance in the past 30 days.
