I can't take advice from someone with your rating.
lmao
I'm new here, and I'm no chess expert. Far from it. I just want to improve my skills, but if I'm just going to be mocked for my horrendous rating here, I won't bother with the forums.
Seriously though, trolls are a fact of life on the internet...grow thicker skin or go back to MySpace.

It's certainly a good job i'm asking the questions rather than giving the advice isn't it then!
My crystal ball is prediction several comments from the following...
BrionstenPawn
MeTheBoxLuhst
kingofshenjindas
Macer75
bulletheadbilly
Blibo21
And those are just the ones I can remember right now...
the plain answer to your question is "yes"
I thought about writing a long tl;dr post about it. but I don't think I will. you should ask your question then press people for explanations if you feel unanswered.
bear in the mind the "chess.com membership" is A LOT more people that just the few that choose to answer questions on the forum.

Toughen up a bit! People who make fun of your rating are idiots and can be safely ignored. BTW Imalittleaxletto was making a joke, and a pretty good one
You're right (by the way it should be "it's unfortunate" instead of "is")
I have amended my grammar.......sleep easy

I'm not sensitive or anything, haha. I'd just rather not be made to feel stupid simply because of my lack of familiarity with a board game.
well said
I am very much sympathetic to your concerns regarding elitism. Chess.com should be a place where every member of the community feels welcome, but currently the corrupt staff and chess.com elites have taken over this great website, and the masses of regular members are suffering as a result of their unjust rule.
But I have good news for you - the injustice ends NOW! I am running for chess.com staff, and my campaign is a movement for the people to take back chess.com and make it a better place for everyone. Please go to my campaign thread to see my detailed platform and join us! It is time for YOU to make your voice heard!

I see some of the threads the OP may be referring to....
perhaps as a community we aren't answering questions as much as we should. idk.
why blame "elitism" though?
is that mean the OP thinks people on chess.com don't want to answer questions because they're trying to hide the truth?

No. I wasn't trying to refer to any of my own threads at all. just the day to day activity on here.
oh.
most day to day threads are questions/topics that have been discussed many times. I don't troll. but sometimes jokes just seem the best way to go over the same "Carlsen vs Fischer" discussion that always happens.
i'm still curious in "elitism"...
what do you mean by that?
An EXCELLENT member who was allways helping in the "help & support" forums was baddogno. I haven't seen him in the past month. Hope he's OK.

quite often you will see responses to posts from higher rated players that start with-
my point is, it should not matter if you are a titled player or just a beginner, we all share the same love for the game.
why can't we all mutually respect each other for that?
Making this thread kinda just gave the trolls another victory. They WANT you to complain. They want you to engage them when they make ignorant comments. If everybody did what I did the trolls would die. Don't comment on their dumb topics, don't respond to their dumb comments on other people's topics, and block them as soon as they start their BS on your topics. Don't acknowledge their presence whatsoever. It's a pretty simple solution but unfortunately there will always be those people that can't resist getting irritated by trolls and engaging them, thereby feeding them and giving them a reason to continue trolling.... Round and round we go!
Dear Chess.com Members
One of the major issues we face in our community is the excessive elitism and trolling we have on our forums. It is unfortunate that someone can post a topic asking for genuine advice and guidance, yet the majority of reply's seem to just insult their rating or their grammar.
The impression chess players have among the general population is one of dedication, artistry and intellect. i wonder how many of them would react if they stumbled on our forums!. Sadly, our forums are filled with personalities who are simply trying to seek attention , and it's unfortunate that members with genuine questions, who are trying to improve regardless of their skill level, get subjected to constant elitism and negativity.
So can i ask that if a member of our community asks for help or guidance, can you give it without prejudice.
