I don't know.. maybe it's because I've been an active (well, mostly active) member for more then 2 years, maybe a random lottery...
i got a free one as well for a week and i thought that it was a lottery thing or 2 years active membership on chess.com

Heh... How are these given out? It would be easier to do a lottery than to give EVERY member one at 2 years.

I think I might have just gotten one as well! I was doing my 3-a-day tactics training and I noticed they never ended! Only to find out I had diamond! Not sure what the case was with me...

I got two.
I have 2 accounts, and i got free diamond membership for a few days on both accounts. I just got on chess.com, and it told me i got diamond membership.
I let my brother use one account.

And as a publicity stunt it worked as I finally presuaded my parents into buying me the account I wanted to buy about a year ago.
