accused of cheating by chess.com

I just upgraded my membership and now chess.com is accusing me of cheating!  What B.S.  I win about one out of ten games, some cheater.  Anybody know why they would do this?

goldendog

What message are you referring to?

Olpueblo

says I'm not playing by fair play agreement and my account is restricted.  I have no idea what I did wrong

sftac

Not sure of the point(s) you're raising.

Is cheating only 10% of the time now o.k.?  Are you purposefully losing the other games (a form of sandbagging & cheating)?  [I doubt that your win/loss record is seen as especially relevant in this context.]

If it's 'only' a fair play violation, just reread the rules and follow them while playing with friends to demonstrate that you understand the guidelines.  You may find it useful to join:  http://www.chess.com/groups/view/fair-play-transgressor-rehabilitation-centre

If you're still eligible for a refund, you may wish to use that to get your money back if you're dissatisfied with the way you're being treated.

probably aborts or something like that

I was wondering about the title of the thread, Chearing, now that is something I want explained

typo....cheating, was the intended title.  Players abort on me constantly because I'm ranked too low.  I cheat 0% of the time, win 10%.  I don't need arrogant answeres, just helpful ones please.

more details might produce more informed answers.  jetfighter is a chode.  sounds like you need to address your concerns with staff not the forums.

Olpueblo

emailed the staff, no response yet.  They say there's live chat, but I haven't found it yet.  What is the "jetfighter" reference?

jetfighter13 is a member here.  he commented in this thread.  he is a chode.

to the OP, you can edit your title by going to the bottom of your homepage and click on "Manage all Content' while you are at it you can change it and put it in the "Help and Support " thread.

Olpueblo

Ok, thanks

If the staff was accusing you of cheating, your account would be closed. If you got a message about violating the "fair play" agreement, that means that you are either disconnecting from or aborting Live games. This is different from cheating.

Have you been aborting games? If so, then that is the likely reason for your issue. Check out the Fair Play Policy for some information about aborts and how that impacts your ability to play.

I strongly suggest that you open your curtains and let there be light , and study english .

AndyClifton

Oh sure, now that the OP went and changed the title (hey, isn't that kind of like cheating too?).

Aborting, stalling, or playing out hopeless positions (though we could always haggle about the definition of hopeless) all will get you restricted. You must have a long history of doing one or more of the above before the chess.com machine catches you.

How can playing out 'hopeless' positions get you restricted? It doesn't seem like it should and I don't recall the staff saying that. If they have could you post your source?

I don't see how chess.com could detect this anyways. I seems like it would be too much for the servers.

what he really meant to say is this , letting the time run down in a hopeless position
