Feature is available in your board-settings.

Hi,

Title says it all. I'm a casual player, but it's infuriating, drawing arrows with right-click and then left clicking somewhere to remove it, and simultaneously moving last selected piece. I don't get the design of clicking to remove arrows whilst still allowing movement?

It happens once in a while, who cares. But twice in an easy game is quite disturbing.

Move 16 and 25.

I ONLY want to drag as it's more natural to me. How do I disable click movement? I have already set "Move method" to drag.

What is the point of drawing arrows while you play? Are you streaming?

Easier visualization predicting different outcomes. I'm only at around 700 and I play 10 minute games. The arrows make me predict up to 4-5 moves ahead whereas if I do it in my head, I can maybe do 3-4 moves ahead.

A very noob-friendly way of learning—for me anwyays.

Are you premoving? That's the only arrows I'm aware of.

I utilize the right-click functionality provided through the options under Board: "Right Button Draw Arrows and Highlights"

To remove the arrows, I left-click anywhere on the board. Unfortunately, this same action also moves pieces even if I have the Move Method to Drag.

I have this exact same issue. I'd venture it's the cause of me losing in at least half my games.  I don't understand what logical reason the developers would have for not offering a "drag and drop only" move method.

Chrimle

I have encountered this problem many times, I recall going to the settings and switching to "Drag pieces to move"... but that clearly didn't fix it as I encountered the same issue just now - exactly like @Refzlundz described.

I have seen that there are multiple threads about this topic dating back to 2014, so it has been a known and neglected issue for a long time it seems.

Fix it already... Thanks.

Disable click to move / Drag Only to move would be SO helpful.

I don't see a +1 feature so just chiming in here that I'd like this as well.

Killerfisk

+1 easy solution to missclicks. It's no fun throwing away a 20 minute game just because the alternative method of moving you never otherwise use just also happens to be so prone to missclicks

jeffboat

It's always frustrating when this ruins a game or a puzzle. +1 in support of a "disable click to move" option. But that's a helpful idea redzippyquest - I typically have the "show legal moves" option turned off, but with it activated I can see when I've accidentally activated a piece. Hopefully this solves the problem.

S2TOP23PLAYER

I found this thread while looking for this option.

Please implement it.

Bump. This is a feature lichess has had for a long time. Please just add the button.

Why is there an option for "drag move" and "click move" if the OPTION for drag move is BOTH OPTIONS?!?!?!?!!? It's so incredibly confusing how they made a website of this size but don't understand how options work.

It handles the default behavior but doesn't disable either method.

PetarPeychev

Well there needs to be a button which allows you to actually disable one of the movement options. It's the number 1 cause of my missclicks by FAR.

well, be more careful i guess? thats my only thought. and turn on the option that lets you look at available moves.

It's just an obvious and simple feature which I can probably implement myself in a few minutes if I had access to the codebase. Of course I'm being careful, but this is just a super simple feature which has had complaints about it for many years(!) now.

p_aolo

+1 i want drag only, so many misclicks

Please, Please for the love of God. If I lose another game because I accidentally clicked my mouse I'm going to another chess site. DRAG ONLY.
