300 baud across a comm adapter on Atari 800XL. Good times.
Wow! 1200 Baud (my friends were VERY jealous) on an Atari ST. Such good times!
9600 Baud was not even available at the time. 2400 Baud was the highest you coould go and those were quite expensive.
And sorry, my memory is faling. My first was an Atari 1200XL, the ST came later.
Yeah, my very first computer I owned was the Atari 400.
But I first dabbled in programming in 7th grade on a Commodore Pet at my school. This was an 'all-in-one' design (Long before Apple did it.
). It had 16k of memory and casette tape drives.
The first program I did, after 10 ? 'hello world'; 20 goto 10;, would take your birthday and tell you what day of the week you were born.
Beeeee. booooong. binga binga binga.
I ran my own BBS with WWIV and Maximus on OS/2. Loved playing Tradewars. Loved FidoNet. Loved my 56K US Robotics modem. Much nicer than the modem for my vic-20.
One of my first tech job was sysop for IBM's BBS, lol.
For fun I've thought about launching a telnet BBS.

He, he!
