You should play rapid more if you are trying to genuinely improve, but it doesnt hurt to play blitz once in a while. Blitz is a good way to practice openings.

I’ve been playing a lot of rapid but recently decided to give blitz a try. I don’t know what it is but I find myself playing better and having more fun while playing blitz. However pretty much every chess player and YouTuber say I shouldn’t play blitz for improvement. What should I do?
Also I’m desperately trying to get to 800 so if anyone has any suggestions I would be forever grateful!!!!
