Blocking erik doesn't mean your are gonna get banned from this site, that's bs. unless you are asking for trouble with him... sure. (hey, this is the second times I've said this)

I don't think members should block erik unless they've reason to do so. We're only allowed up to 200 blocks (why waste them?).
Erik is Staff, so I suspect he may have the capability to bypass anyone's attempts to block him. So, if you're blocking Eric because you don't want him posting in your topics or responding to your Live Chess seeks, you may find blocking ineffective.
The only point in blocking a Staff member as I see it, would be to indicate you're displeased with them (any Staff who I've not blocked, please interpret that as I'm pleased with you 
). If they're in a good humour, they'll not be offended by your blocking them imo.

You know what would be more ridiculous? Blocking CHESScom! That way, you wouldn't be alerted of friend invites, team matches and vote chess! (I know you can't, just hypothetically)
I have heard here that some people have actually blocked erik! Why would they do that!? For starters, it is a sure way to get banned from a site to block the owner of that site.
