how does this work (i can't even mention a non polemic politician related US thingy 'weapons of massive destruction' everybody know it was the excuse for a massive killing but there is a thread titled Catalonia is not a country nor a nation
You live in Spain, so what is your opinion on Catalonia?
Ivandh: You Very Very Lucky Son of a Gun ! You got to vist St.Pierre & Miquelon and also meet that very nice young Lady ( I am green with envy here ! ).
How about the Dutchy of Grand Fenwick? I'm sure there are some talented IM's there. They are certainly deserving of a flag in chess.com
Chess.com's view is that if someone wants to play under a certain flag they will let them, and they are not interested in the politics of it.
Why aren't there state flags for the US?
That is true! Why doesn't chess.com include state flags for the US? And what about county flags? Why is chess.com including flags for some Spanish comunidades autónomas, but no flag for American states? What about Australian territories? What about South African provinces? I think chess.com have three options: to include no flag at all; to include any flag (nation, province, county, city, fiction) that every player prefers, and you possibly will have several thousands of flags; to include only the flags of the nations in the U.N. list.
The actual selection of flags is absurd, as chess.com is including only the flags that chess.com wants: not those of real nations, not those of every state of province of every nation, not any drawing every player wants.
There is one other option: remove the flagpole from the uncomfortable region it seems to be lodged in.
Well what we need here at this point are positive new ideas. Anyone that follows the financial news knows that Spain is in very very serious difficulty. So we go to the World Bank and borrow a few Billion Dollars and give the money to Spain to release Catalonia. We don't want Spain to go bankrupt and Catalonia wants to be free ( It's a win-win for everyone ).
the new Colorado Rapids second kit has a Colorado state flag hidden in it. pretty great.
i'm not particularly fond of the flag nor the team, but i do like flags.
Not meaning to get political but rather to bring forward some History, Catalonia was freed from Moorish control in 788 AD with help from Charlemagne ( yes the Emperor of the HRE ). Catalonia was an INDEPENDENT Domain until 1137 AD when it was united with the Kingdom of Aragon ( and was LATER included in the Kingdom of Spain ). The French controlled Catalonia from 1640 to 1659 AD, also from 1694 to 1697 and again from 1808 to 1813. Isn't History fun.
--- Yup, still the same answer. Btw for the benefit of the uneducated among us HRE stands for Holy Roman Empire.
Long live the Kingdom of Bavaria !!! Also while they are at it let them bring back the Grand Duchy of Baden and also the Kingdom of Wurttemberg.
--- Yes a great idea !!!
