There are many ways to do this. I recommend you ask @Moonwarrior_1 what he does
Yup, we already sent this thread hyperlink to moon, but they are playing live chess now, so they might check this thread out later.

Its actually not that hard to get started however quality wise here's a few things.
Pc is preferred (but I use laptop)
A mic
decent Webcam if your going to use one
Now as for starting you will have to pick which software you want to use. Twitch studios is simple and what I use but others prefer OBS and stream labs. For setting it up I suggest looking up YT videos and asking little questions to me and other streamers. (I say other because I have no clue what im doing haha)
Even if you don't have the best stuff it's perfectly fine, I mean look at my set up haha. I suggest reaching out to @Lightningchess21 if you have any major questions that I cant answer. He is at a OTB tournament right now but he helped me get started.
also what's key is remembering why you want to start streaming and to keep that in mind when you are streaming
I wish you the best and hope to see you on twitch (on your stream and on mine haha)

It is pretty self explanatory once you download one of those softwares (which you can find in twitch.com) about how to set up your layout but if you have any questions pm me.

Awesome; yeah I feel the same way. If I get a webcam, I feel like investing more for a quality one is a better idea than one with poor resolution. If I do begin streaming sometime, then I'd probably do what @Moonwarrior_1 did by starting out without a webcam and then adding a webcam once I have enough money for a quality camera/setup ![]()

Some of my chess.com friends like @Moonwarrior_1 or @ZionPureinHeart stream chess, so I was just curious what I would need to stream chess (preferably on Twitch or chess.tv etc.).
Context:
- I have zero streaming experience and not that knowledgeable at all with "computer-stuff", but I can navigate computers fine with what I know and don't mind learning new things.
- More-or-less broke for stuff like streaming, but I don't mind investing larger amounts of money for things like equipment or software if it is necessary.
- I remember seeing some chess.com articles or blogs on streaming resources/advice, but I can't find them again and when I read them years ago, it was purely out of curiosity.
Any resources or advice would be helpful; I don't know if streaming chess would be right for me, but it might be worth trying
this is fantastic news. i can't wait to see your streams! You've always been so helpful and wise about chess and I really have enjoyed following you.
I used to help run a computer fixing biz with my ex and he's a bit of a PC geek so if you run into any problems let me know, he might be a good resource in that way, he's uber trustworthy in that regard. lol
yeh don't read between the lines too much there.
he's also killer at retrieving data off sabotaged / broken HDs if they spack out so yeh think of us if you run into any gnarly pc issues. am sure we could do some fantastic help in a crisis for free. Am assuming he would be the same with SDs as he keeps up with every new tech. most shops will throw your data away like it's nothing, and then lie to you that it couldn't be saved, but we would help you with this sort of stuff for free.
I love running linux as base OS and the hopefully not too misguided sense of security that that brings. I think the non executable nature of malware in most linux situations goes a huge way to improving security. I know this is not particularly relevant to what you are talking about but perhaps in the future it will be.
ALSO if you would like anyone to help moderate I'd be happy to. I swear like a pirate in private but if I was a mod I could help maintain any vague level of twitch decency that you would be happy to set at a baseline. I'd also need some training as have not done that yet but hung out enough on twitch to see I could help maintain a non racist non sexist non political non country-ist environment. Also obviously for free. Have never offered this before to anyone but yeh you're such a great bloke xD
Hello!
Streaming could be fun, if you really want to do it, but you will likely earn little cash from it, especially when you are just starting. However, if you are lucky, and you have great content, then you might make minumum wage or even more from it after a few years. However, most streamers have very few viewers and earn nothing or almost nothing. If you are trying to make a career out of streaming, I would suggest not doing streaming since it will most likely fail. I hope this helps (:
