Count up instead of count down?

Pretty clever but not everyone would want it, I don't think.

Sounds good to me.  Or there could the option to set the clock to invisible (but still keep it active & the problems rated).

Be able to use the computer analysis computer program for games played off line.

drakesdman

in live chess forced moves are done for you (also maybe conditional moves

tns

How about a little icon or some way of determining which of the games in your archive have a computer analysis. Currently, if you can't remember, you have to open all the games and look for the little green check next to "Computer Analysis"

TheGrobe

The same for conditional moves on current games (that you've created, not necessarily for your opponent's)

I would like the ability to 'autoplay' stored games so that I can do something else while watching them other than keep clicking the mouse.

I like this idea.

KnightNotHorse

What about the option of hiding the ratings of your opponents on the current list of games as well as on the game board?

Apologies if I'm posting something that's already been asked for, but I did a search and was unable to find any mention of it.

I think it would be a nice feature to be able to offer odds in a game. Perhaps only in an unrated game. Most of my friends who play aren't as serious as I am about chess and are unwilling to play on an even field. Having an easy way to give piece or draw odds would be a nice addition for me, albeit a relatively unimportant one.

Just my 2 cents.

I think we should be able to have tournaments from custom user-definied positions including shuffle-chess type starts.  Maybe just unrated at first.

jleecbd

I would love it if tournaments could be configured with a maximum allowable vacation time usage.  I'm in my second tournament with one player who apparently doesn't have time to actually play.  Rather than drop out, they just are perpetually on vacation.

Doesn't clicking on "My Home" and then the red "view my public profile" link work? Or is there a different view I am not aware of?

Thanks fncll. Yeah I thought the My Home was only a Menu Bar to select options in the menu list.  Thanks for that.

Good suggestion -- the list should be on each page when browsing the actual topic.  If each item on the list was hyperlinked to the post itself it would also be great.

I'd love to be able to kick items off that list without having to delete my posts as well -- just a checkbox to drop it to the bottom of the page irrespective of the time of the most recent post would do nicely.

Game archives would easier to consult by showing the first 2 moves of all games.

I have played only 100 games and when I want to go thru my games and analyze a given opening that I have played to better myself, I have to bring up every game one by one in a new window, go from the message box on all games to the move box and then go from the last move to the first move.

A long trip indeed I still do it but would like more flexibility by :

1. showing the first 2 moves in a column between the black heading and the result heading, would also be a good idea to also show the first 2 moves in the current games.

2. Have a selection drop down to choose between different scenarios:

a. select the games starting with say 1.e4 or 1.c4 or... and list them.

b. group the games by first the ones I lost and next the ones I won.

Always show as well the number of moves played, most number of moves first, as I have no interest to analyze a game that lasted only 8 moves or so.

Do not know how many people analyze their own games but I do all of the time.

Carrying the ECO code next to each game would be ideal for this.

I just noticed today that there is no way to track a locked forum topic.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem, as locking a topic typically precludes any further posting, but there are a handful of topics that are locked to keep anyone except Chess.com's staff from posting.  These are the topics I'm interested in tracking but can't....

i would like a more comprehensive list of your stats with different openings as well as your opponents (although, knowing this site, it would just be for premium members).  great job on recent changes though.

This is already available, but as you suspected, for premium members only.

You get alot here for free.  There has to be something withheld as a carrot at the end of the stick to serve as an incentive for people to purchase a membership.  Remember: no membership sales, no viable business model and no viable business model, no Chess.com -- nevermind new features.

TheGrobe

I think that not offering the ECO code would mean that those players would have no incentive to learn it.  The classification system was built to make referencing openings easier -- why would we want to eschew it in favour of an archaic and more difficult to use means of referencing them?

Incidentally, I think a lot of what you're looking for is available in the Game Explorer, which lets you explore your games in a very similar manner to what you've described.

TheGrobe

I know I've said it many times before, but I'd still love to see the mouse-over pop-up board implemented on the alerts window so that I can check my games from anywhere on the site without having to navigate away from the page I'm on.
