Obviously the new rating is already appearing at the bottom of the board with my username, but i'm sure i'm not the only one who can't always remember precisely what their rating was immediately before the game finished. It would be great to see by exactly how much my rating has changed, especially when I beat a much higher rated player! It could be displayed in the same place, and just appear as eg 1645 -> 1655.... i guess it would make sense to display the opponents rating change as well....

Thanks.

Quite so, but you are shown only the rating change that has occurred - not the changes that would have occurred had the result of the game been different i.e. the information given - during the game - by show rating adjustment.

I am aware of both of these things, and they do not accomplish what i am talking about. I am talking about the rating i had right before the game finished appearing on the screen at the end of the game along with my new rating, eg '1645->1655' or '1655 (formerly 1645)'. 'Show Rating Adjustment' is no longer available once the game is over (and i don't like to check it during the game and count my chickens before they are hatched, so to speak), and yes it is fairly simple to check my game archive and see my previous rating there, but it would be even more simple if it appeared on the game finished screen automatically. I am requesting this because it strikes me as an addition to the site that would be relatively easy to implement but would bring a lot of pleasure to anyone who ever beats an opponent with a significantly higher rating...

My request is that when a member closes their account for whatever reason, their forum postings shouldn't all disappear like they currently do, literally making whole conversations unreadable. Elubus made a good suggestion in this thread that there should just be a notification beside their post that they have had their account closed. If their account has been closed by the staff for excessive abuse, perhaps they could be made an exception and have all their posts deleted...

There was also some discussion about that idea in these topics LAST CHANCEUSERS SHOULDN'T and ANNOYANCES -  including Erik's take on it.

1001+ posts 50+ pages ! isn't time to have a new wishlist #7 put on ? plus come up with a summary and say which items you will be looking at and which items we can forget about it.

Thanks. Although I just looked through all of them and couldn't anywhere find Erik's take on my specific point...

artfizz had written (in LAST CHANCE): If the Original Poster opts to delete his or her original post, ALL of the subsequent conversation disappears as well. Is this such a good idea?

erik had written (in LAST CHANCE)reasonable idea. this will be discussed when we re-do how content works on Chess.com this year.)

It was on the more general issue of content being transient.

I know I have asked for this before, but I'd like to push it to the front again as it is really bugging me. We need rolling average stats!

This is not just average opponent, but also (if premium) average win, average loss and average draw. Why is this necessary, you ask? Well, currently I am constantly improving. Unfortunately, the result is that my average opponent on this site has been 1500-1600! You can imagine how bad this looks when my rating is 2090. However, just look at my most recent (rated) games. I haven't played anyone under 1800 in a long while.

And, as I was saying, by extension the average wins/losses/draws should also roll. Apparently, the average opponent when I win is 1428! Yet, a look at my latest 10 wins (not including timeouts) and the average of those opponents is 1972.9! Another example of the misrepresentation- my average draw is 30 points HIGHER than my average loss! This is a result of me drawing more often as I have improved.

Please, chess.com, make this happen, before everyone sees my rating as anything but accurate! Thank you. Wink

A way to set up a position where two players can work on it.

I am mentoring someone and the abillity to do this would be a great help.

In chess 960 tournaments, I would wish that every game starts with a different starting position (except maybe for the two games with the same opponent which I am agreeable to have started with the same initial position).

This would be option C) or option D) as given in

http://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess960-chess-variants/chess-960-tournaments-variety

keeping much more with the true spirit of chess 960 than the presently employed option A) of having all the games of a chess 960 tournament start with the same initial position.

I have asked for this a few times, that would really be good....

On another note, right next to the "Track this forum topic", maybe a "Ignore this forum topic", so that the same old tired topics don't display on my unread topics list month after month, while still allowing people interested in playing Hurt/Heal etc do so.

I'd really like to see average time per move averaged over last x moves or x months/weeks/days, it takes ages to take it down while you've been on chess.com for over 1/2 year!

I'd like Chess Mentor to be able to play back alternative lines (visually that is) mentioned in their lengthy discussions, rather than me have to do it on a separate board or screen, or set it up on the analyze board repeatedly from the lesson's initial position.

It would be especially helpful with lessons in which you are several moves deep, yet more alternative lines keep being mentioned, like with some of the openings lessons.

For example, a lesson may say something like "black can't do Nxe5 because of 5.Bd6 e4 6.Nc6 Kf3 7.Qg2 d6 8.Nd5 and black's king is a sitting duck while Bd4 loses 5.Kf3! b3 6.Qf1 Rd5 7.Bxd5 Nxd5 8.Qf8 Qb3 and white has the initiative"), but when you set up the analyze board, it starts in the lesson's initial position instead of going to the line of current analysis involving much wasted time and backtracking.

Amazon.com (among many shopping sites) has a facility it calls Personalized Recommendations. It keeps track of the products you buy (or merely browse), then it steps in and says:

"People who were interested in item X also expressed an interest in items Y and Z."

I was wondering whether a similar scheme would be useful on this site for linking forum topics. Could chess.com not also say: "You like reading about Y but not about Z, so you might like reading about topic X - while ignoring topic W".

Don't know if this is the right place to ask, and I know this feature may require hard work, but how about

Los Alamos chess?

It's chess played on a 6x6 board :)

A repertoire explorer.  Select a famous chess player, such as Karpov, Kasparov, Anand, etc, and then explore which openings they've used most often with white/black.

Avatar of xiii-Dex

what about making it so that you can leave notes from the page where you can view them all.

Avatar of Scarblac

On the Online Games page, currently the games where it is your move are sorted with the game with the least time left to move first.

It would be nice if I could optionally sort them by how long it has been my move, so I could make my moves in the same order my opponents made them in.

Because the way it is now, if you have one 14-day game and a bunch of 3-day games, and you never have quite enough time to work through the entire list, what happens is that the 14-day game sits in the queue for 11 days before it can compete.

Of course you don't need to follow the sorting order, but I'd like to be able to follow it without letting people wait unnecessarily.

Ideally you could invent some sort of "urgency index" to sort games by, which would place games that have been waiting for a long time first, but games about to run out (say less than a day left) even more to the front of the queue, and make that sorting the only choice. That'd really help those of us playing a 14-day game against an opponent with hundreds of games, and 14-day tournaments with a few such players :-)
