Have your opponents ever trash talked you?
If it were "good-natured ribbing", such as one might find in a real chess club OTB, then "trash-talking" would be ok...but as things stand in Chess.com, trash-talking here is anything but good-natured! The problem lies with anonymity; players say what they will without identity exposed. They would almost assuredly NOT negatively trash-talk in person, because of the obvious risk of physical injury to themselves.
A time or two, but only in rapid when i tried that. Never in longer games. More than a dozen or so times on the “other” site, all of them in longer time controls.
I don’t recall being trash talked. One person did write some not nice things in chat when I disconnected but I didn’t see it until after the game ended. No one chats with me in games really.
How do you guys get people to talk to you in games? I want some friends, sometimes.
You all are trash and if we play together and I win, I obviously am the best and if I lose, it's because I am not trying.
Woolly doesn't suffer trash talkers!
One of my recent bullet opponents lost in the opening and requested a rematch. I refused, as I was already playing a new opponent. He responded by spamming my inbox with 50+ profane insults and threats, telling me I was wasting his time by refusing to play a 2-minute game of chess with him .. after he spent more than an hour insulting and threatening me over messages .. lol. He called me a "waste of life" and a "s**t human being" .. btw our game didn't even last more than 10 seconds. I can't imagine how miserable life is for people who take such a simple board game so seriously.
Just turn off chat and be done with it. You might miss a few cool interactions with nice people, but you avoid a whole lot of trashbag personalities trying to get under your skin while concentrating.
