At a young age, but I never grokked it, even in the high school chess club. A few months ago I figured out my "in" to finding interest in it, and have been cruising along ever since at around 600. To me it's like having only a passing understanding of math, and messing with fractals as a hobby. I assume I'll never see past 1000, but you never know. :-)

I literally just learned to play weeks ago at age 9, and I just got my first win.

Any person can pass 1000 unless they are mentally retarded. Someone with average intelligence can get to 1600.

...... you’d obviously be surprised to play some of those under thousand players.. Some deliberately start off at 600 + and are easily 15 up to 1700
