Connection interrupted

Hey chess.com community,

I've got one question:

Since three days I can't play games here, 'cause very often this "Connection interrupted" message appears, BUT my internet connection is alright, I even can open new tags and visit other sites so the problem appears only on this site WHILE I'm playing. I also lost a few games because of this... And, excuse this words, I'm really pissed off.

My question is, if this happens to some other guys of yours too? What could be the reason for this?

Greetings, diaeitsch

It has happened to me too. In fact I was firts credited with a win because the oponent abandoned the game. Now it says that I abandoned the game. Why would I abandoned a winning position? See lukesalt v Rahann. Makes me want not to play.

Let's make it happen!

I use Chrome mostly, sometimes Firefox.

But I've to say that since yesterday it seems to be alright again. Perhaps the problems had something to do with the server updates...

I'll play a few games now, then I'll see if it still works correctly.

Yesterday all was working correctly.

Today the same problem again. I tried with Chrome and Firefox, switched the internet off and on. I've got the newest version of java...

It would be nice if someone from the Staff could say what's wrong with the chess.com live chess servers... It's just annoying.

the servers for chess.com blow.  no matter where i am or what my connection is, i get disconnected frequently.  it's very frustrating.

I have had that problem many times. I set up a ticket and was told sorry, problem on your end. New modem, router, and computer and still it happens. It does not happen on any other program.

Seriously, I hate to start that damn site!

The servers are sh*t³! I lost many games because of this... And why the hell doesn't the staff say something about it?! I mean there are probably many people out there, who would upgrade their accounts (me including) but with servers which kick you out so often?! I wouldn't even give a cent for this page. Staff, say something about it! It can't be that so many people have an "interrupted connection" though the internet connection is alright. There is no problem on our end, there's a very large problem on your end!

Same here, also in Germany, very high spped connection, otherwise no problem! It was a good chess site, but I doesn't work for a couple of days now. It disconnects and reconnects all the time. Will have to look for a new chess server.

diaeitsch

I searched for other chess sites too. But it seems that chess.com is (if it would work correctly like a few weeks ago...) the best site on the whole internet... unfortunately. I was on many other sites but there is no live chess and only a very small group of members. Let me know if you've found a good one, lady_bishop. :)

PS: Have you tried chesscube already? Sure a good alternative for many people but it's a little bit complicated in my opinion. Also there are a lot of friends of mine who have the same problem like me on chesscube. For some reason it can happen, that the time runs down on the own site faster... In my case almost 3 times faster, that's very strange...

lady_bishop

Well, I can live without online chess. Anyway, chess.com doesn't load at all despite excellent connection. Seems to be specific in Germany and to Telecom. This goes for about a week. So, when I can't connect, I can't and I am not looking too hard for other sites.

Deutsche Telekom issues have been resolved it seems. Is it all working for you now?

diaeitsch

Yesterday I tried, it worked. :)

But I don't get it, why only the live chess server didn't work for me. Any other site (including the tactics trainer here) were alright... internet is a strange thing...

piotr

Yes, it is in fact complicated. Live Chess is using a different routing scheme than the rest of Chess.com.

There were some other threads about the problems in Germany. Seems it was to do with some new servers there.

Knowledgeable (or at least knowledgeable sounding) folk were explaining that although live chess programming is pretty simple the transmission of the material is particularly prone to generate small blips of delay that can create problems.

Anyway I am talking here about stuff I know nothing about myself.  Hope you guys/gals are getting better results. And good luck to those who try to keep things running as smoothly as possible.

it's not just in German because I have also lost many game through this problem when in winning positions!!! the servers need to get it right!!!! It's very annoying.

This is not a server or webbrowser issue, it is a cheat more and more often used by chess players who do anything to win. I have had so many incidents where in tight time control with winning positions people push the button and interrupt my connection. I have never had any issues in loosing positions. People who do this have also often chat disabled and do not accept friends requests so they clearly know what they are doing!
