Countries and Profile

I knew it. No one would go to all this trouble just to create and operate a chess site.
Certainly no one would put up with all our garbage but those fanatical Catalan nationalists...

I wonder if I'm a radical nationalist for some country and never realized it? Maybe I'm some sort of sleeper agent operating on the Net for some ulterior motive and without even my own knowledge. Hey, wait a minute-- why did I just type this? Why is my mouse cursor moving over toward the 'Submit your comment" button?

ask the guy is riding onto your partner..just in your left side

txemali, i went through this thread twice and couldn't help but notice you being the lone spanish flag... few canadian and american, a romanian, and a few others.
Ignorant de la vida! Chess.com ha puesto esta bandera porque no son unos opresores como vosotros i unos toca pelotas. A ti lo único que te deveria importar es jugar al ajedrez por eso te registraste! I no venir aqui con politiqueos!
Sorry for the post i didn't know the rules! You're and ignorant! Chess.com put the flag because they are not an oppressor like spanish people. We're sufficiently independent for have our own state! All you should care about is playing chess and this is why you signed up! Don't come here with politicking!

Oh, can't we all just talk aout Xavi?

While Catalonia may not be an independent country, it remains an autonomous region with a large group of locals possessing strong cultural heritage and the right to call themselves catalonians - should the so choose - in order to make a clear distinction between themselves and spaniyards.
Would polish people have been insulting germans in the 40's by calling themselves poles instead of germans? Probably, but sometimes people are just begging to be insulted.
Save your rants and national pride and go do something constructive instead.

"in order to make a clear distinction between themselves and spaniyards."
Presumably a spaniyard is a Spaniard, exactly three imperial feet tall?
p.s. No wonder the Catalans wish to distance themselves from such a short-arsed race.

A lot of small talk here...Facts are facts then Catalonia remains legaly and factually under the spanish sovereing...

This comparation between german ilegal ocupation of Poland and Spanish sovereing over Catalonia is an insult to the inteligence...If you have no idea about politics and history simply shut up your mouth...Spain is one of the oldest sovereing nations in the world and Catalonia has been part of our nation since the begining. Nobody cant change this fact. Also for your knowlegde Spain is a country formed by many historical regions, all of them autonomus. You can find a similar state organization in Germany but I havent see a flag for Bavaria in Chess !

"but I havent see a flag for Bavaria in Chess !"
This is the point you are missing. Chess.com doesn't draw political boundaries, it merely tries to represent various peoples who have a voice. I'm sure if enough Bavarians made a good enough case for a flag, it would be considered for inclusion. This is a chess site, not the United Nations.
