As you can see, @Jnewgames is muted for 7 days. As he is an engergetic forum writer, he created a lot of forum threads. There are ongoing discussion on those topics. If you mute someone, it is fine. But dont deactivate, the forum threads.
Mutes are temporary. They will come back.
Then how will you know they are muted?
Oh, well, they can do alternative things such as (green, red icon in individual profile)
Chess.com is regarded as socail networking service ( wiki) and deactivating the thread leads to inconvenience to other members.

We do not currently have a tool that blocks someone from commenting/chatting but leaves existing posts visible. That would be a useful tool to have, but currently our mute tool hides posts as well as blocking further commenting.
I doubt it would be particularly difficult to implement such a tool - separating the "mute" and the "hide content" aspects into separate tools - but it's probably lower priority than many other more-requested features.

Those it you who post in his threads and encourage his trolling need to think twice about the kind of ugliness you are supporting. Directed right at @drmrboss and the rest of you followers of the sociopath.
