I will do anything  I possibily can to help keep the Number One site for the greatest game in the world up and running forever and ever. AMEN And I can do alot. Every time this site has gone away ,It has only been for a short time and always is better than before. Next time it happens to you get abook on the game or go to a chess buddies house and play. Your island is small can't be too far to find an opponent. Look here for them!

What?  What do you mean?  NO!!!  Let's hope this does not happen.  I love this site.  I have improved even though I have not been a member long.

To all keep up the good work.

Imagine a future where Chess.com FORUMS are no longer trackable. Imagine all the work put into your profile; all the member points, the forums, the blogs, the photos, not actively managed. Imagine your impeccable rating, counting for nothing. Your collection of international friends means nothing now. Your friendship exists only in your mind because it once hung from a single rope called Chess.com which no longer alerts you to new forum posts.

WE DON'T HAVE TO IMAGINE IT - IT'S ALREADY HERE!

artfizz if you're complaining so much why do you play on chess.com?...  Anyway, I would be devestated if I lost chess.com and all the great friends I've made all over the world!  I have spent tons of time on the sight using many of its' spectacular features and losing it is like losing part of me :).  ROCK ON CHESS.COM

I'm merely adapting  mwilkin9's original 'catastrophe scenario' and applying it to to the current situation. which is: that while chess games are not affected, the forums are all but unusable, and have been for the past 24 hours or so. I'm using this existing topic to trawl for information about whether the cause of the problem has been identified, and whether there is any forecast for restoration of the service.

A recent survey showed that forum usage is one of the key site features, and any interruption to it will therefore impact a large proportion of chess.com users.

Situation back to normal. Well done, chess.com staff.

It would be helpful if there was a SITE STATUS REPORT on the homepage to make everyone aware of such extensive service interruptions, and to provide updates on any progress towards a fix.

Oh, I must be playing every game like my very last game then! Laughing
