The forums have a rather peculiar element.  The OP is able to block members from posting.

There are times when a thread should be pristine and an OP may want to discuss a specific thing without clutter such as off-topic comments, image-spamming, ect.   Yet there are other forum threads in which the OP just doesn't want to hear dissenting comments.

I think default threads should be open to everyone (taking away the ability of the OP to block anyone), but there should be an option, only available when creating the thread, to give the OP total control to delete comments/block users, and such threads would be tagged as such so anyone would know whether the thread were open or closed before posting in it.

Very good point, completely agree.

Pdela embodies the spirit of pdelability across the full specturm of pdelation present here on Chess.com. When each one of us pdelas, we create a greater sense of pdelahood, which is the highest aspiration we can have.

Pdela T shirts. Limited edition.......Smile

Just noticing... why did you have Spanish as your language for the site some hours ago?

Hey Erik!!

Firstly, great site, helped my chess playing so much, doesn't mean my rating has gone up tho :P

My question is regarding the daily puzzles. I've already posted on one of the daily posts and asked for this but haven't got a reply.

I've noticed that we've had pretty much only puzzles for white to play and win so could we PLEASE have some puzzles where black is to move and win? This may sound strange, but it really does help on so many levels.

Keep up the good work!

Dredd

 Fair request!

I can do the job for $10 per puzzle to post in front of it and make a puzzle of black moves and wins. No need for programming. Very simple. Smile

Important question:

In V3 would it be possible to kind of force people to play

at least once in their chess.com life?

Maybe within the first 10 games on here?

I think there should be a thread-specific search feature. Often you may want to find something in that thread but you have to search page by page by page by page.  I would think that might be an easy improvement.

Not sure if it is possible, but if we could implement bughouse as a variant here, that would be pretty cool!

Don't we have bughouse already?

You must be special. I don't see those options and erik posted earlier that staff has access to some variants but couldn't tell us a what they were.

This is much better than that silly live interview you did. Congrats

My question hinges around marriage. Here goes. *cough*.

The game of chess has 2 possible outcomes, one person wins over the other, or there is a stalemate. There is never a win-win situation.

Questions:

1. Do you think the game of chess is similar to marriage? Please give examples.

2. How do you play it when your wife really really wants to buy something which you don't like?

1. Marriage is not a zero-sum game. Marriage is about abundance and growing the pie as big as you can. Everyone can win.

2. Never happens. We live in an atmosphere of support and mutual abundance. We give each other REALLY long leashes. Theoretically if she were to want to do that, then I would find it in my heart to support her.

There shouldn't be an apostrophe in "pdela's." It's being used as a verb, not a possessive.

What was V1 like?

Practicality

Feature Request: Get notified when someone mentions your name or quotes you in a post, without having to follow the entire thread. As a developer I can think of reasons this could be difficult (in particular scanning every word in every new post against the entire user database), but it seems do-able.
