No not currently. Erik addressed this in a earlier comment. He is thought that just because someone creats a public forum they should not be able to control it.

Question: (1) Do you play hearthstone? Ben Brode (game designer for hearthstone) recently released a video about his thoughts on content updates (link here, you do not need to watch if you don't want to). He mentions some things I think we can relate to on chess.com like:

Lack of news in a long period of time gives the impression developers are lasy and not working. Then the one at fault is the developer lacking communication.

There is a right time to announce things, announcing things early can be dangerous since people can get tired waiting for release and things can change during development (it is better to underpromise and overdeliver than to overpromise and underdeliver).

(2) Any thoughts about these things?

(3) Are you happy with the communication done by chess.com regarding v3 and other content updates?

Captain the best way to report these bugs and get the info to the right staff members is to use the report a bug link in V3. On any page at the top has a little icon that looks like a small bug. Click the bug and it automatically takes a screen shot and a report window opens. Just tell them as much as you can about the bug or features that are missing. Please remember that is only for bug reports and not support. Cheers

Just to note, the report bug link doesn't work on my Android mobile browser on my phone. Not sure if the same is true on the iPad.

Just double checked and it isn't even an option on my phone anymore. I know it didn't work on one of my mobile devices, maybe it was my tablet.

It works on my iPad on safari (minus all of the arrows and such) try turning your iPad horizontal and look for a small bug icon at the top of your page.

Erik,

There has been recent scientific proof that the wealthiest, most physically fit, tan-est, and most likeable person in a company is, without fail, the CEO, head, founder, or what have you.

Is this true?

If you measure wealth in happiness, I think most of our team is pretty wealthy!

I am one of the most fit people on the team, but others are faster, stronger, better bikers, or better athletes. I'm pretty good all around...

Definitely not the tan-est (sp??) since I don't try to tan and wear sunblock.

Danny is definitely the most likable.

So, not true for us....

erik, I spent a weekend in chess.com-ville and saw lots of Teslas.  Which one was yours?

The one that looks like a Ford Explorer.

I have a question: Why does V3 never come to fruition and why is Chess.com, the most populated playing server online, the least technologically up to date? Where's all the money going considering that your Diamond sub is also the most expensive chess playing server cost on the internet?

I feel these are legitimate questions.

A fair question. V3 has just taken longer than expected. A LOT longer. Because our site does so much :/

You aren't paying to play. Playing is free. You pay for learning tools and content. Grandmasters don't write articles and do videos for free. And to support the developers. I agree that our current (V2) site is way old. We haven't worked on it in 2 years. All efforts have been on V3. Which has taken a long time. But I haven't used the V2 site in forever. I, and many others, just use the new site.

Salutations! Before doing anything that might be against the policy of Chess.com I'd like to confirm before I do it. Recently, I had bought 20 copies of GM POSITIONAL UNDERSTANDING + 6 more courses by Igor Smirnov with adjoined 6 chapters for $350 each for my students. However there are 13 copies still left. I wanted to confirm whether I can create a thread on the forum selling my remaining copies at $90 discount. Can anyone advice me with this regard? Thanks.

Yes you can. Try the equipment category?

I do have to mention one thing . I was just put on vacation again and had over 8 hours to make my next move. I have lost almost 2 months of vacation because of this glitch. I looked at all my current games and had at least 8 hours . This needs to be fixed and it was never A problem until someone or something decided to give people only 24 hours of vacation time, before being put on vacation. If I leave town for Christmas  for A few days And put myself on vacation my time that I have in those games should not be changed. I was told it was A glitch and fixed but its not or maybe it has something to do with my oppononent putting themeselves on vacation wen it my turn . This was never A problem until A few months ago. I have delibertly resigned games because some of the people I am playing think I am doing this on purpose. Lost around 400 rating points I think but I don,t care about that. Maybe  its being caused by some sort of interface between v3 and v2. Whatever it is I hope it stops.

Please message me privately if this is still happening. We DID have a vacation debacle last month because of a database issue. I'm very sorry. Let me know how I can help you (message me!).

To Erik:

Currently, internet chess is mostly focused on blitz and bullet chess except here where correspondence chess is the main focus. I know V3 is helping to bridge the gap between chess.com and other live sites.

To me, one area where chess.com lags behind other sites is in live analysis. That suggests that the next big step would be to add live video, like skype.

Are there long-term plans to improve live analysis and possibly also include video conferencing abilities for chess.com?

Definitely want to improve live analysis. That said, I think it's probably not in our best interest to spend time and money trying to build video conferencing software. We may work on embeddable 3rd party tech. That said, we had voice capabilities for years and NOBODY used it!

According to the chess.com rules and regulations everything about religion, politics and profanity are not allowed on this site. Yet There are teams allowed that discuss all those things and are even named after them. Maybe  its time to clarify the chess.com rules and regulations. The most important thing they say is  to simply be polite and I agree .

Those are rules for public forums and when playing with other people. Private clubs/groups can do what they want.

erik,i have a serious question for you.

In chess.com,there are people who do not come to forums and just want to play chess.also, people have slow internet connection due to which they gotta wait for sometime till it loads.

is there any possibility that a programmer can write a desktop-based client software to play  chess on chess.com server?

will chess.com ever allow this?

 Nope. I'm sorry.

will you add the feature of choosing between different sounds when a player moves pieces. Right now you only have one, which I find annoying.

In our mobile apps we have several sounds. We also have them for web, but not yet enabled. It's scheduled and assigned to a developer, just hasn't been done yet.

Hello. I don't understand the message setup, it only displays a conversation with the last sender: how do I switch to other messages, there appears to be no inbox or sent box..?

In V3 we have moved more towards the same messaging systems used elsewhere with SMS, Facebook, etc where you just have one conversation with a person.
