It's simple, because the Brit's conquered most of the world (during the 18th and 19th Century), and they spawned a number of "kissing cousin countries," who also had a rather large impact.  Everybody plays Cricket.

It shows, in the (new) Muslim Brotherhood, President of Egypt, who went to the same University as O.J. Simpson, and whose two sons were both born in the United States.

But like @Flags above, what's wrong with a day in German, or Turkish, or even Aussie Warthog, for that matter?  So Let er' rip...Laughing and "Swordfish" opens the door.

Dw i'n wedi dysgu Cymraeg yn yr ysgol, ond dydw i ddim yn siarad iawn heddiw.

Und ich kann auch ein bischen Deutsch sprechen.

But I think almost everyone learns English in school these days. In fact probably if you could speak English, Spanish and Chinese then you could talk to more or less anybody.

I think you would need to add Arabic to that list.

Many people speak three languages: their mother tongue, English and the language spoken around them.

So living in the midwest U.S., that means English, English, and English. I've found rationale for my ignorance!
