Forums only make up a very small percentage of chess.ocm, you can have a fun time outside in groups.
To the OP: Why are you caring about the forums,if you don't think the forums are good, don't post in them, let them die out, post in the good ones. Or in a group. The forums don't harm anyone, even though some of them are kinda stupid
I have some experience in moderating other internet forums. None of the ideas so far are anything new, nor will they cut down on unwanted posts or socking. Anyone that has also had realworld experience modding websites or working in IT can tell you the same.

Your estimation of Macer's effect on...well, anything...is highly suspect. While I would be glad to see every troll/sockpuppet banned, I don't pretend or imagine that any one of them makes much difference at all. It's the aggregrate.

I don't know about that? I've heard about the Cheater_1 person for years. Kco would probably lament the total disappearance of this Musascha person. I'm sure Macer would be a part of more people's memory than we can possibly imagine if he were to leave. Chess.com peeps sometimes actually enjoy having those types of personalities around, I think

Chess.com peeps actually like being angry with the people who come here just to get them angry. It's like they let out steam or something.
What's bizarre about it?? I can't stand the idiots and the trools either. I'm all in favor of some kind of restriction, or merit based posting. Most members here are good. Most drivers are good. the few bad apples on the road have done tremendous damage throught the years, but yet tommorow, most people will get to where the're going. The forums work, but with 9 million members, lets say 10,000 are professional idiots.
Don't get me wrong Trysts; I'm not giving them a free pass. Driving lisences can be suspended, as posting privilages. But look at the poor mods, and the revolving door. This week 5000 people will be deleted. (the'll come back with a different IP). In 1 week, how many driving accidents happen, in the entire country, because of liqueor??
Alcoholism; they think buzzed driving is OK. Its like Hoffmans over dose earlier this week. Some of these trools are ADDICTED to the're behavior.
My proposal runs as follows.
No forum posting until:
1. Ten games of Online Chess have been played.
and
2. Account has been active for more than a month.
Fixed. Staff take note. It will save you less work.
