Game Review: New Feature

Go to "Home" and it's a big banner at the top, IF you are a diamond member.

Also, you have to play a game now (since it's new) to use it afterward.

When reviewing a game, the 'best move' used to be automatically shown on the board upon review. Now, I need to hit "Best" in order to see it. Why is this better? When analyzing a game, I'm hitting a variety of buttons (Best...Next...Best.... Next...) just to see what i used to see automatically? Is this an improvement?

Home?

Is that something visible in the iphone app because I can’t find it.

Do I need to uninstall my app and reinstall it to get this feature to work or what?

A good idea in theory, but i'm disappointed with it's analysis. As a human i'll always make tactical blunders, the sort that i see after i play them and wish i could take back the move. frustrated.png I don't really need those pointed out to me.

I'd rather something that can provide commentary on my overall game plan and whether my ideas are effective.

Ubik42
No. I just played a new game against a person figuring maybe a computer game isn’t enough, but no “review” feature, just the same old game report.

Vaporware? Or just not available on iphone?

Ubik42
Harry Tipper I don’t think AI is good enough to tell you ideas, is all tactics for stockfish. You still need a human coach if you want ideas and plans.

But at least you can access the feature. So it really exists?

So far, it's definitely worse than the previous version. Requires more clicks to get the same information I had before. I suppose I'll get used to it. meh.png

again, looks like I am not missing much, though a little peeved that I paid for diamond but apparently don’t get the same service.

You can get infinite reviews, it's just move explanations that are Diamond for infinite.

Ubik42
Ah. I never get on the PC anymore.

the game review feature showing the line automatically is to fast for me . It be much better if i could go through it at my own speed.

The old report feature is better for me. How do I get back to it the old report feature?

You can't.

I feel like there's less incentive to pay as a gold member now.  The game report was great–recommending lessons, showing lines that explained why your move was good or bad.  I feel like I've lost a huge amount of analytical functionality now and I'm still paying the same price.  It's really frustrating that this new feature seems like it's just an excuse to hide some of the perks of the game report behind an even bigger paywall.  Maybe it's way better but a lot of players including myself are never gonna know because we don't want to pay for an even more expensive plan.  It really just feels like people who are not paying for the top tier membership just got robbed of a feature that they've always had access to.  And yeah, you can toggle between the analysis and game report tabs, but what's the genuine benefit of making it more of a pain to find out why a move you made was bad?  This feels like a purely for-profit decision and really makes me feel disrespected as a paying member of the site.

I agree with papanick1, Zauber, and probably many others. The previous game report version was nice and helpful and required less hassle (no additional clicking, scrolling) to determine what was the best move at any point. To me this "review" tab only looks like a scheme to add more "buy premium" buttons and makes my user experience worse.

If some people like this new feature that's perfectly fine, but if anyone from chess.com reads this, please allow users to disable it and revert to the previous system.

Does it have color commentary?

The only difference, from a feature standpoint, should be the move explanations. My understanding is everything else is still there.

The old system will be going away. They are already taking additional feedback and are planning some changes, but maintaining a second version is not likely.
