They are basically the same thing. Each group has their own forums where they can discuss issues pertaining to their interests, and then various members of the group will join a team match--making them a team.

groups are individual organizations of members with forums, etc. teams are groups that play chess against other groups/teams. i know. it's confusing :)

Perhaps Groups should be discouraged from calling themselves Teams (and Teams should be discouraged from calling themselves Groups). All of the following are GROUPS - not TEAMS ...
