The problem seems to be that most males don't mature, if they ever do, until about age 30. If you want an easy life on line, you should go as a gender neutral entity and not provide a lot of biographical details. A lot of people overshare on line and attract all sorts of loonies.

No, "we" (whoever we are) are not mature enough to not pester and harass people. This is one of the major problems with the internet and social media.

A few weird guys don't represent the "majority". What I am sure of is that if someone believes that this "majority" exists, it is because they know very little about the world outside the internet.

A few weird guys do not represent a majority. But if you put out the wrong signal, you'll attract every weird guy who comes across it. I have known many female members of this site over the years and they almost all say the same thing about the goons. Those who hide their identity fare best.

If you are on the internet you will come across thousands and thousands of people, so it is normal to meet unpleasant people. It is wrong to generalize and judge most people only because of bad people. Furthermore, uncomfortable situations over chat do not only happen to women, they happen to all people regardless of their gender, obviously they will attack you with different things depending on your gender, but the point is that in any case we are all hotbeds of online harassment.

The point is to limit yourself, do not interact with just anyone, would you start chatting with all the people you meet on the streets? Obviously not, on the internet it is basically the same, limit the chat, do not talk to people who are not in your friends list, if someone turns out not to be a good friend, remove them from your list.

I'm not even going to bother with this level of nonsense. Any other takers?
