I received a email today from a so called Jane who says she got my Email address from chess.com.Here is a screen shot of the mail (there is even her email so if anyone interested just try your luck). To be honest I don't find it so funny and would like to know how she got my email address.
It's worth noting that you've exposed your e-mail address in this very thread via the screen shot. If I wanted, I could now e-mail you and say, truthfully, that I got your e-mail from chess.com.
If this kind of thing concerns you, and it seems that it does, you should probably exercise some more caution.
I didn't expose my email and if you can find it in this thread please send me one to prove it
Sorry, my mistake -- that's the sender's e-mail not yours, correct? Despite hailing from Canada my French is abhorrent.
I seriously doubt chess.com has been hacked. Some program searched profiles on here and you were lucky one chosen. Remember! now send your banking information, phone number, SSN, drivers license number, and a photo. I have personally experienced these before and the women have always been incredibly hot. And i have also been assured that my $50,000,000 that a relative i didn't even know i had in Zimbabwe is on its way!
When the money arrives we are havng a HUGE chess.comn party!!!
It's just a scam. You sould ignore those e-mails. Only open e-mails from trusted people or people that you know.
BigHickory is right. Just don't open them.
It has nothing to do about open emails or not ,the question is how "she" got my email address through chess.com?
As the titel of the forum is" has chess.com been hacked " it is a question, sorry that I forgot the question mark.It is not a conclusion as you mention Karl, as for the conclusion chess.com is working on it.
My email address used , never had spam before and I have been using this address for 6years(getting lots on my g.mail and hotmail). As for my thinking ,I never thought it was easy to hack Twitter but somebody did so why not chess.com?
The letter itself doesn't bother me,what's bothers me is if somebody got chess.com's mailing list.
How foolish to post this.
Yes!
What's with the silly smile ?
There's not a tongue-in-cheek smiley?
Yes, and Jane came by with a lock of your hair
She said that you gave it to her
That night that you planned to go clear
Did you ever go clear?
My advice:
These spam emails may be trying to spread viruses, trojans, or other nasties. Delete them without opening them. Nothing good ever comes from them, but if you are the kind of person who opens them anyway, just in case, have I got a deal for you . . . .
Just only except messages from friends. It's the safe way........
