Dude,
read that wikipedia reference carefully.... do you see the word "claim" in the first line?
The moment he took your knight with his bishop, counting should be vanished. If you could give a few more check,it would have been a draw i guess.
You have to "claim" the draw by clicking the draw button.
Right. Whenever the requirements for a draw are met, whether threefold repetition or fifty moves, the game is not drawn automatically. When you think you have earned the draw, you need to click the "draw" button. If you have met the criteria for the draw, then clicking the button will not offer the draw; instead, it will claim the draw, and your opponent will not have the opportunity to refuse.
Some chess players misunderstand because in playing against chess programs, the draw seems automatic. I had long been one of these who misunderstood the concept of claiming the draw. In these cases, the computer is essentially claiming the draw. The fifty-move and threefold-repetition rules are the only two types of draws that need to be claimed this way. Stalemate and insufficient material are automatic.
Here is a game where my opponent fullfilled the three- fold repetition rule.

I think he clicked on claim draw before i could make my move.
Hope this helps
Alright so I ran into another irrratating experience with the draw (repetition) rule.

1 minute game and we each had around 30 seconds by the time all the pawns were locked up. I kept hitting the draw button like some of the posters had pointed out with no luck; eventually I ran out of time and the dbag started taunting. Another thing to point out is his clock WAS NOT ticking at all towards the end. He told me it's his 'litte secret'.
By rule, this game is supposed to be a draw. You notice the slick moved different pieces around to cheat the online system; and as I pointed out, it still kills me why his clock was not ticking at all

See moves 55, 59, and 61.
I declared a draw and hit the "draw" button repeatedly before and after making move 61. (I was white)
Is there any way I can make an appeal?

See post #9.
"I think he clicked on claim draw before i could make my move."
Threefold repetition fails when your opponent spoils the position before you click the draw button. Impossible to draw with premoves.

This game doesn't apply. The same position was never once repeated anywhere in the game. In order to apply, both sides must have the EXACT same position for at least three times, I don't see where that ever happened in this game.
As for his clock not ticking down, he was probably using pre-moves.

According to these players, premoves cost time. http://www.chess.com/forum/view/livechess/bug-premove-not-working

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threefold_repetition
It was a 15-min game, with me down to 2 minutes and the opponent with 5 minutes left at around move 50. He refused the draw request with my timer still ticking down. Needless to say, it went on for awhile and in the end I ran out of time. My question is: do you not apply the threefold rule here? If that's the case I'll be playing chess somewhere else because that's moronic.
