How to improve forums....

I think I've seen someone mention this before but I think it would be great if we could hit a "like" or "dislike" button on people's thread posts.  It would be sort of like facebook in that way (I wish that they had a "dislike" button but they don't).   The point of this is that we could easily weigh in on people's posts without making threads overly lengthy and difficult to get through.

Also, there could be a thread "view" option where we could sort the posts by how "liked" or "disliked" they are.  This way we could get through a lot of the nonsense and see what people are really liking or disliking about a thread topic.

What say you?

I think this idea is more amenable to reviews or a Yahoo!Answers situation (where people can make only one remark).

Where there are conversations going though, not sure how well it would work...

Well there are lots of times when i have read something and really agree with the comment snd would liketo just hit a "like" button. It happens everytime I read through a thread for more than a minute or two. Sometimes if i am really motivated i will just type: +1 and post that.

A virtue of your suggestion would be that then we could see the approvals right there alongside the comment, rather than having to scroll down and find any +1's (assuming that they exist).

Hey look!  I think I found a +1 underneath my coffee cup next to the Higgs Boson.

Oh come on, don't be silly, those things don't exist!
