Chess.com has changed it so that simultaneous games can only be played unrated, so you can avoid this problem by playing rated. There is also an option for simulers that automatically switches to the game where it is their move and they have the lowest time out of all the games, which also helps decrease your problem. Here's a more detaled article about simuling: https://support.chess.com/article/1313-how-do-i-host-a-simul-and-play-multiple-games-at-once
How to strongly reduce Stalling which slows down games?
With all due respect (@Mango314) Sir, all games I play are rated and at least 90% of my opponents play simultaneous games. Result, you need to wait up few minutes of inactivity. One solution since I feel chess.com does not want to stop simultaneous games, would be to disqualify a player who stops playing more than 1 mn.
Wouldn't it be a good idea?
Respectfully,
Stéphane
Also, in the same respect to you:
- How do you determine if someone is playing simultaneous games? I'm not quite sure if it shows, but if someone does not move for a minute or two does not necessarily mean they are simuling.
- For your suggestion, that might prove a problem, especially in longer time controls such as rapid, as many positions do require analysis for over a minute; looking at top level play in the Rapid Chess Championship, many times even the strongest of players need more than or close to a minute for a singular move

If you are participating in leagues, there is no way to play simultaneous games (I have tried).
I assume you think they are playing multiple games due to thinks longer than 1 min - but this is completely normal, even in 10min rapid. A few games ago I played a sicilian and spent a two minute think on a single move (It was a bad move according to the computer).
When I play over the board chess, I sometimes think for up to 20 mins for a single move.
I think it is unlikely that your opponents are playing simuls. (You would have to opt out of leagues to do this)
Doesn't stalling mean that the opponent is losing time and you're getting closer to a win? In my view, we should rather promote opponents to stall ![]()
It's somewhat frustrating if the opponent is stalling in a losing position, but you have committed to play a game which could take the full length of time so all that is happening really is that you have a time advantage, more time to think on their move, and better chances to win.
1) Very easy to know, click on the guy and you see if he is playing parallel games.
2) I did 4000 games and approx. 90% of players on 10 or 5 mn games do stall and that is pain in the neck to wait longer than necessary, isn't it?
Someone stalling, thinking, playing multiple games, etc.... Is part of chess and why we use a CLOCK!!!! Every sec your opponent spends doing w/e is to your benefit....Play your game, use your time wisely. I've lost winning positions & won losing positions, the clock is a mini game and has its own strategy....just be glad you dont to smack it
OK thank you, so why is it written in the league regulation that playing parallel games is forbidden? although a common practice and why can we parameter/ report players stalling if it is allowed?
You are not allowed to play simuls if you are in leagues since it favors premium members over free members. You also cannot even play simuls if you are in leagues anymore- I’ve tried.
You used to be able to report players for simuling in league games, but that was before they added actual code to prevent simuling

Two questions unanswered...

@B1ZMARK has already answered your questions
When I first saw "stalling", I thought you meant deliberately not moving until the time control runs out, which is indeed aggravating, especially after you've finished analyzing a position. We cannot control others' moves, so the opponent cannot be forced to move. However, when time is spent and then a move is played, like what you're referring to, your opponent probably cannot immediately find a good move in the position or is searching for any potential better ones. Complex positions can leave people thinking for many minutes over what move they should play next, especially if they're losing and trying to save the position.
Hi fellow chess and chess.com lovers,
Don't you think that allowing for parallel games to be played increases strongly stalling, since players forget one game for another?
Anybody from the staff who could give his point of view?
For players, comment if you agree or not.
Cheers.
