In case you're wondering why the number of members jumped...

it is now 2 million members so that could mean that if everyone jumped at the same time then Live chess may crash

From this discussion one thing that comes out is, I need not take the new 95 %ile of mine seriously as there seems to be huge number of duplicates and non-players included in the count. The previous 90% was apparently more accurate.

If everyone merely breathed in at the same time, LiveChess would probably catch a cold (but don't quote me on that! )

I'm still failing to understand the account merging.
then maybe you should talk to your accounting professor?

Merging killed my zero timeout record as I have now been billed with 4 from my Facebook account.
I still have the no checkmate streak as a consolation.

...and all at no extra expense.

i am pretty sure we merge them if we detect that you login with the same email address since we can't have the same email address twice. otherwise it is a choice (though again, we recommend you merge).
your friends will be transfered with everything else.
who said live chess won't be in facebook after this release!? (surprise!!)
What about our privacy? We dont want you to know who we are on facebook and we dont want facebook to know who we are on chess.com?There is a reason people use nick names and avatars here and on facebook...

Put simply: we will NEVER share your information with anyone!
Is this still true?
On our homepage we have a counter of all of our members on Chess.com. Some people might have noticed that over the last 24 hours that number jumped by about 600,000. Why? Because we have imported all of our "Facebook Chess" accounts in preparation for the merger next week. This won't affect your Facebook Chess or Chess.com account yet - we've just created the placeholder member slot for each one.
Almost to 2 million... (actually, we're far past 2 million if you include the 600,000 iGoogle accounts...)
I was wondering Erik, mainly because of my "today's rank"! This is just fine though because now it says I'm better than 90% of the people as opposed to 81%!
